Free Family Planning plus Cheap Diagnostics

The debate could be about what types of health care should be provided, if a public health care system were established, to pay for contraceptives and abortions for the poor.

Free Viagra? I don't think so.

I think family planning is important, because so many other health issues hinge on good family planning.

Perhaps diagnostic X-rays or diagnostic blood tests. The idea would be that if you have a disease, or deteriorating physical condition, that is cheap to test for, then having the information from the tests, should be motivational in keeping he same job, or keeping up your helath insurance payments, or subscribing to at least a reasonably priced major medical policy, or finding a lower paying job, that does have good health care.

I see medical treatment, if it is needed, as something that should be planned for and paid by the individual or his/her loved ones.

People who want to act like jerks, dishonor or antagonize their family, or refuse to get a job that has health benefits, then may suffer the consequences of being independent minded, in nothaving medical treatment reasily available.

You damn right Viagra should be free. It's just as much a family planning aid as condoms.

Guys too old to get their dicks up without medical assistance don't need to be having kids. They probably won't live to raise them.

Indeed. While I think contraceptives, diagnostic screenings, and abortions should be available for free under public health care-- but I am much more interested in ensuring that expectant mothers have access to proper prenatal care.

Our children are our legacy and our greatest investment. Healthy fetuses are born healthy infants, and healthy infants are much more likely to grow into healthy children and, eventually, healthier and more productive adults.

Eh. Personally, I do not think that healthcare is an appropriate motivator for keeping people in their positions in society-- properly implemented, the purpose of a healthcare system is to increase and maintain the productivity of the nation's workforce. As such, it should be provided to every citizen, or at least every citizen which is expected to be a part of the workforce or to join the workforce in the future.

I suppose we could argue about whether or not the elderly should be covered. Personally, I'm of the opinion that it is the decent thing to do-- then again, I'm also of the opinion that people should voluntarily walk out onto the ice when their healthcare costs start getting extravagant.

I disagree. It's like education; healthcare is an investment in the productivity and efficiency of the workforce. The government should invest such in the populace, for the purpose of helping every citizen live up to their highest potential.

People who dishonor their families suffer enough-- and many families are unfortunate enough that they cannot afford medical treatments and proper educations, even for those members of their family that do their best to honor and support them.
