" Welcome to Ireland

This is an important notice for female passengers.
In advance of our descent into Dublin airport, cabin crew are now circulating to collect the bodily autonomy of all female passengers.
We would appreciate if you could place your bodily autonomy in the bag provided and have it ready to surrender please.
In compliance with Irish legislative requirements your bodily autonomy will be stored securely by the airline and returned to you upon exiting the country.
As you may be travelling from a country which provides free, safe, and legal abortion in line with international standards of human rights and therefore may not be accustomed to the nationalisation of your uterus, here are some important reminders:
In Ireland unwanted pregnancy is punishable by either forced pregnancy or a prison term of up to 14 years for procuring an abortion.
(Important to note that this punishment includes pregnancies with fatal foetal abnormalities which ensure that the child will not survive outside the womb, and also pregnancy as a result of rape.) ..."

Thankfully public opinion is swaying more and more towards removing that part of the constitution. It should not be much longer. Ireland has undergone rapid social liberalization and secularization in recent decades, much like Quebec's quiet revolution in the 60s.

They seem to still have a ways to go...

That's a hoot.

At least Ireland is trying to hold on to some sense of morality and not selling out completely to the Satanic system, of free meaningless sex and abortion of demand.

In the Irish system all it would take is a referendum and a bill passed by a simple majority to amend the constitution. And public sentiment like I said is rapidly increasing support to repeal it. Give it 5-10 years.

that's what I hear

I am hooked with a woman on FB that has a gay son

she fears for his life if he were to be open about it

they purposely hide it, he dates females and never speaks about his preference publicly

I have trouble believing that unless they are in very rural Ireland. Ireland is rather LGBT friendly, they legalized gay marriage a year ago by popular referendum. With 62% voting yes and popular sentiment being a lot higher than that.

hm okay thanks for the feed back...I don't know what the atmosphere is like over there but when he brought up the anti abortion it reminded me of what she had said regarding her son

usually the two go hand in hand

moral turpitude

The more we advance the more we remain in the dark ages.

Well the largest party, Fine Gael, has promised a referendum on abortion. And the law regarding abortions has been relaxed in recent years.
A January 2016 Newstalk/Red C poll found that 78% of voters were in favour of allowing abortion in cases when the pregnancy arose as the result of rape or incest, 76% when there is a fatal foetal abnormality, 61% when there is a significant foetal disability or non-fatal foetal abnormality, 59% when the pregnant woman has suicidal feelings as a result of the pregnancy and 41% in any circumstances felt necessary by the pregnant woman. However, when asked if the Eighth Amendment should be removed from the constitution, only 48% said it should and 41% were opposed to removing it.

Ireland has offered all protections to the gay community, maybe this Wikipedia page will help.

Not in the large cities, especially Dublin according to my Irish friends and everything have read. Dublin is very LGBT friendly. She must be living in a rural area. It also does not make any sense the the population would approve of gay marriage yet disapprove of homosexuality. You have to remember that in every country there are still people stuck in their old ways, especially old people in rural areas.

Northern Ireland is a competently different story. Two entirely separate countries, political cultures, and social attitudes. Northern Ireland does not have gay marriage, unlike the rest of of the UK or the Republic of Ireland and has no plans of changing that anytime soon. Northern Ireland is very staunchly protestant and did not go through the same social liberalization as the Republic. I thought you were talking about the Republic of Ireland.

404 for me...
But other countries can do whatever they want. I'm not a citizen so I have no concern with how they deem things a right and what not.

I do know that Ireland is a far different culture and, according to people who live there, they're not so damned judgmental like people in the US are. I don't think people in the US realize how vicious people can be toward young and/or single mothers.

Most likely then and the small town is probably not helping, Belfast would probably be more LGBT friendly. I think her son should look into moving to the Republic.

Imagine that, people are upset with a country that doesn't allow killing innocent humans on a mass scale. Some people like to call killing other humans as autonomy but it's no so for those killed.

"Bodily autonomy."

Pro-abort loons and their crazy euphemisms.
