RICHMOND, Va. -- Governor Terry McAuliffe vetoed legislation passed by the General Assembly to eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood during a ceremonial signing at a clinic in Richmond Tuesday morning.

Supporters of the Republican-backed bill maintained it would take money away from the organization and reroute the funds to healthcare groups providing comprehensive care to families. However, opponents said it would limit women's health rights.

“We are here today to smack down the latest attack on ladies’ healthcare rights," McAuliffe said.
The Democratic governor called himself a “brickwall” against legislation that would limit funding to the non-profit.

Good. As we've seen in Texas, defunding/closing down PP has *not* resulted in women getting health/reproductive (ie. contraception) care at other health facilities, many women are doing without.

“We are here today to smack down the latest attack on ladies’ healthcare rights," McAuliffe said.

****ing bull****.

If I say I won't help you carry out your rights there is nothing I am doing that limits your rights. Why do people think their rights includes the use of other peoples money?

Just another in a long line of Republican attacks on Planned Parenthood. They are not the first, not even the first to try the attack characterized as "reroute the funds to healthcare groups providing comprehensive care to families," nor will they be the last. It is no different than other routes, like the Texas model, characterized as "protecting women's health."

It is all bull**** from Republicans, always has been.

Did you pay for anyone's abortion? Till you do this kind of stupid ignorant drivel will remain just that and not an intelligent argument.

People that support Planned Parenthood getting funding always claim that removing funding to Planned Parenthood restricts a woman's right to get birth control. Of course, it does no such thing nor does a woman's rights have to do with having anyone pay for them.
