Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Abortion Laws

I'm still thinking if I need to spam information from any of the 5 embryology books I have on my shelf until some pro choicers o this site finally get it. It might be a waste of time though since some think the law gets to decide what qualifies as a human or not.

Well I don't have five anymore but I tried that already with the ones I do still have.

Spoiler alert: citing textboot scientific fact at them does nothing to assuage the barrage of ignorance.

Your semantics are transparent and pathetic.

Do you call yourself a growth? May I call you "a growth?" Please do let me know.

It's not the most descriptive term, but it's not technically incorrect.

Growth : something that has grown or is growing.

I think you're equivocating here. In medical terms, the phrase "a growth" means "An abnormal mass of tissue, such as a tumor, growing in or on a living organism." Growth - definition of growth by The Free Dictionary

Of course, a zygote is growing; this phase of human development lasts only days. I guess anything that's growing could be called "a growth," but when you talk about the removal of a growth from a human body, this generally means a tumor.

A pregnancy can qualify as having something grow inside of you that you do not necessarily want to grow inside of you. Pregnancy can actually jeopardize the life of the mother. Termination of the pregnancy may be medically necessary in order to save the mother's life, and in those cases the unborn may be doomed whether mother lives or dies.

Please post a name or post number of ANY pro-choice person that believes the law determines who qualifies as human (Homo sapiens). Otherwise, avoid it again and just admit that you are trying to re-establish some semblance of credibility here...and rather than addressing people directly...are only capable of posting unsupported lies. You are lashing out sadly, when you could be directly answering the questions that several people have asked you...and you have not answered.

But for the love of God, be man enough to address people instead of relentless avoidance.

It's similar to the use of 'baby' before a human is born. The correct terminology would be any one of the stages of pre-birth development, or otherwise the qualifier 'unborn' is needed: unborn baby.

Which has nothing at all to do with what I said about equivocating about the term "a growth."

But thanks for cluing me in about pregnancy and how it can "actually jeopardize the life of the mother." I've been pregnant and more than once. You?

I don't see how my personal life is relevant.

The removal of a growth may save the life of the patient. I cannot fathom how anyone can describe themselves as "pro-life" while protesting the removal of non-viable unborn tissue so as to save the mother as "murder."

I'm guessing you have me confused with somebody else.

First, I'm not interested at all in your "personal life." My point was that I am female and that you, as a male, don't need to school me on what pregnancy is like. You're dishonestly trying to shift what I actually said to mean something entirely different.

Second, you will not find a single post of mine in over 20K in which I have stated that I oppose abortion to save the life of the mother OR any use by me of the term "murder."

I'm guessing you forgot the context of the discussion.

I was explaining to Jay Dubya that getting an abortion is not equivalent to hiring a contract killer.

Since it is literally and indisputably the act of hiring a contract killer, you are wrong as usual.

No, but you clearly are.

You and your likers are clearly under the idiotic delusion that unborn Homo sapiens are somehow not human beings. But if you'd taken a Biology class like, ever, you'd know we don't change species mid-lifespan.

If after taking a biology class you are suddenly pro life, why does the majority of practicing medical personal support legalized abortion?

If after taking a biology class you are suddenly pro life

Never made that claim.

Others may know scientific facts but not respect human rights; the person I was dealing with neither knows the science nor has any respect for human rights.

**** the "right" to hire someone to kill another human being. There is no such right.

Correct good thing that factually has nothign to do with abortion:lamo

John Oliver's support for abortion demonstrates that he is degenerate.

Abortionists kill other human beings for money; they clearly demonstrate they have no respect for the rights of others and should not be allowed to roam free lest they change their m.o. and start killing other humans. It is no small leap to go from considering one group of humans acceptable to kill based on their arbitrary characteristics to simply a different arbitrary age cut off.

So your "proof" is opinion and lies which means you have no proof. LMAO AWESOME

John Oliver on how states' abortion restrictions make the procedure impossible for women

Lets get real.. We all know what these new regulations are all about... Its to make it near impossible for a woman to get a medical procedure AKA an abortion. These are a direct attack on a womans right of choice. John Oliver presents it perfectly

I watched it and Olliver nails it. LOL

Nobody honest is fooled by the lies ain an attempt to violate womans rights based on the lie of safety. Nobody educated and honest believes that LMAO. Its not supported by the medical science community its not based on already existing safety standards and these bills dont address safety in a linear form but only go after abortion. Its mental retardation run a muck. This is why many of these bills get challenged and eventually thrown out.

The video also hilights one of the facts i have been pointing out for a while. No matter what one calls themselves the vast majority of the country are pro-choice to a certain degree or another. Only extremest nutters want abortion banned in all cases or the vast majority of cases. While all the rules and laws dont match the majority of the civilized/developed world has pro-choice laws/rights.

ABortion is not going anywhere.

How about taking the simple and honest route? Answer the simple question that has been asked of you before but for some reason you are still not willing to do. What is a human being?

Mandatory counseling is a good idea. 72 hours is a long time. I would advise only 24 hours. I also think Sonogram laws and heartbeat laws are a great idea.

Women that do abort should know the full extent what they are doing. Just like a person that eats meat should at least slaughter or kill once an animal they eat - cow, pig, chicken if they normally consume such animal on a regular basis. If they aren't willing to kill such animal, they shouldn't eat meat.

...and a person that wants their nation defended by the military should have to kill a person or else they can support the military
...and a person that wants honey should have to tend to a bee hive
...and a person that wants to visit a zoo should have to live in a cage
...and a person that supports life sentences should have to be incarcerated

...got it.

I hate the abortion issue. At some point, a fetus becomes a human being. The only question is when.

That should be the consideration, but I sure don't know the answer.

I'll be damned. Something we agree upon.

How about the point at which it can sustain its own life without the organs of another, like all other beings?

I don't know, we have come so far in pre natal care even that has come into doubt. Finding a way to see or measure awareness is I suppose what I would lean towards.
