People spread this. They're wrong, of course, thanks to efforts by the pro choice crowd to reduce abortion.

This chart, using CDC data, shows the declines between 2003 and 2012 in the raw numbers of abortions (the solid line), the abortion rate (the number of abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44), and the abortion ratio (the number of abortions per 1,000 live births).
"After reaching a high of over 1.6 million in 1990, the number of abortions performed annually in the U.S. (has) dropped to around 1.06 million a year," the National Right to Life Coalition wrote in its fact sheet, adding, "By 2011, the (abortion) rate had dropped to 16.9, nearly half the peak rate, meaning abortion was a significantly less common feature in women’s lives in 2011 than it was in 1980."

She exemplifies what has gone wrong with the Republican Party. Pandering to social conservatives to get yourself elected. And she is misrepresenting (er uh lying) to achieve this goal.

Dear Real Fiscal Conservatives,

One of the best ways to decrease abortions is to allow for opportunities for families to be self supporting and to allow them to have hope for a decent future for their born children. This essentially turns an unwanted pregnancy into a wanted one.

If you really care about decreasing abortions, stop the lying, fingerwagging, and slut shaming. Be more pragmatic.

A real fiscal conservative would also understand that high quality long term contraception would help people prevent pregnancy when they are not in a position to financially, emotionally, or physically care for a child(or more children). Take this to heart. As this has helped keep abortion rates down.

Agreed with others, her chances are becoming more slim and she is saying just about anything to stay relevant. But perhaps more worrisome is very well might be believing all this **** that she comes up with.

I dont think she realizes that no one on either side actively seeks for abortions to occur.

I know I as a pro choice person, would love to see abortion numbers go down.

Thats why pro choice people also try our best to make sure people are educated about effective measures of birth control and what not.

Meanwhile, many on the pro life side also think that condoms are sinful, leading to more unwanted pregnancies.

I don't know anybody who thinks condoms are sinful. They and other methods of birth control are seen, at least in my own observation, as a practical blessing in contrast to abortion.

I dont believe that's true, you are very aware of at least on poster on this forum that believes using them would be cause for receiving capital punishment.

However I agree that most pro-life do agree that birth control is a positive thing.

Fiorina's (false) claim and apparent stance on abortion however, still punishes women (& men even tho they often dont realize it in the beginning) when birth control, esp. condoms, fail.

Lying about this and misusing kids on a field trip to have a speech that those kids are way too young for (just to make an anti-abortion statement) makes her absolutely unfit for a president.

Frankly, I think this is run of the mill pandering. And pandering to the lowest common denominator in your party brings the entire party down.

I do not consider pro-lifers LCD, just the ones willing to buy into easily disproven lies.

Paleocon (a regular pro-life poster) firmly believes that any birth control - including condoms - should be a capitol offense.

There are people who still believe this though. We have some on this board. They certainly do exist. Their numbers are dwindling, but still there. And we wouldn't have so many places with or trying to implement stupid restrictions on sex education if not for some of the beliefs they hold on birth control.

If women weren't getting pregnant less I bet the number of abortions would around the same. Women's views towards abortion hasn't improved at all and I see no indication they are less likely to abort.

The left calls a lower reproduction due to birth control progress, but I consider it standing still.
