Supreme Court rejects emergency appeal from California antiabortion group

Well there's a difference between legal and illegal. That is why I specified PP.

And we are discussing a group that should indeed be brought up on charges IMO, for falsely representing PP and several people.

It is not illegal to give money to the center for medical process, nor do you give up your right to privacy for doing so.

Any halfway decent lawyer would rip claims of false representation to shreds. That being said, if giving out information that has been selectively edited is now illegal, I want every member and supporter of PP who has ever tried to pass off those bogus uber-low stat claims about what percentage of their "services" are abortions in jail today.

The supreme court rejected the appeal bud. :lamo

Oh, don't kid yourself. You want to know about a real distortion?

I have heard of sooo many pro-choicers violently protesting pro-lifers and attacking people who don't want to get an abortion.. Oh, wait... :lamo

Oh, and how many acts of terrorism have PP supporters engaged in by their supposed lies ?

I can't find any because any google buries me in the terrorism of pro-life lunatics driven by the lies of those who you seek to shroud in secrecy.

Oh, and how many acts of terrorism have PP supporters engaged in by their supposed lies ?

....as many as the CMP's donor list?

...terrorism? Really?

Yes, cases of arson and mass murder for the purpose of political aims qualify as terrorism.

Your evidence that CMP's donor list is guilty of arson and mass murder for the purpose of political aims?

One need not be a donor to be a CMP supporter. Do you have any examples of PP supporters committing terrorism against pro-life affiliates ?

I would say that there are at least as many as you have of CMP donors, who are the populace under discussion.

Can you elaborate on this?

Can you elaborate on this?

The OP wants the list of people who have donated money to CMP to be released in hopes that pro-choice activists will ruin their lives and hopefully find a way to put them in prison for their pro-life beliefs. Absentglares' response, apparently, was to suggest that CMP donors were (of all things) terrorists. :doh

No, the facts they spent money to illegally acquire and then misrepresent are likely to have incited cases of terrorism.

There need not be any terrorism for the disclosure of "donors" (aka crime lords) in the pursuit of criminal deeds.

In light of terrorism, it seems even more important to hold these people accountable for their crimes.

just when I think you can't say anything less connected

Thank you, AG. It's always nice when one's side benefits from the opposition discrediting itself through hysterical arguments. :)

In what world should people be able to fund criminal activity free from consequence ?

In what world should people be able to fund criminal activity free from consequence ?

Are you really suggesting that we should arrest Congress and POTUS for funding PP?

That is the motivation behind demanding the list be released. So that people who disagree with me can be punished for doing so, or have to worry that whackos are coming to try to ruin their lives. It is an intimidation tactic....

You are describing intiminidation tactics that organizations like Operation Rescue and other Pro-life groups have done to persons who happen to work at Planned Parenthood.

From Media Matters:

The anti-choice group Operation Rescue has been consulting with the Center for Medical Progress to attack Planned Parenthood with deceptively edited footage.
Operation Rescue attempts to stop the "Abortion Holocaust" by "systematically harassing" abortion clinic workers. The group's leadership includes a convicted felon who attempted to bomb an abortion clinic, and it once issued a press release saying the killer of an abortion doctor should have been able to argue it was a "justifiable defensive action."

Operation Rescue Consulting With Center For Medical Progress To Attack Planned Parenthood

Center For Medical Progress Produced Anti-Planned Parenthood Video "In Consultation With Operation Rescue." Operation Rescue says the Center for Medical Progress' (CMP) campaign attacking Planned Parenthood was created "in consultation with" their group.
CMP has released deceptively edited videos against Planned Parenthood that have been called out by observers. [OperationRescue.org, accessed 7/21/15; Media Matters, 7/15/15]
....

Operation Rescue Tries To "Shut Down Abortion Clinics By Systematically Harassing Their Employees Into Quitting." From a 2004 Rolling Stone profile:

Operation Rescue's smear campaign against Phares is part of a new strategy to shut down abortion clinics by systematically harassing their employees into quitting. Banned by law from blockading clinics as it did in its early days, Operation Rescue has taken its offensive to the front lawns and mailboxes of clinic workers. In Wichita, members of the group rummage through employees' garbage in search of incriminating information. They tail them around town as they run errands. They picket clinic staffers at restaurants while they're inside having dinner and castigate them while they're standing in line at Starbucks. Operation Rescue is also visiting companies that do business with the clinic and threatening them with a boycott if they don't sever their ties with the facility. This is America's new abortion war, and the objective, in military terms, is to cut off the supply lines to abortion clinics and demoralize their troops.

Troy Newman, the head of Operation Rescue, calls it the Year of Rebuke -- and if it works in Wichita, he plans to unleash the campaign of intimidation on abortion clinics all across the country. "I want these employees to realize that their lives have changed," he says. "As long as they're embedded in the abortion industry receiving blood money, they can't live a normal life. They just can't."

yowzaa, bottoming out.
Well, that's the argument, right? If someone has been accused of a crime, then they are guilty of the crime, and anyone who has ever given them money is a crime lord and (somehow) a terrorist.

I think its disconnected from reality in a worrisome way, myself. Too many people (and their numbers are growing) in our society want to criminalize dissent. They've completely lost the ability to understand those they disagree with, and have no desire to.

What crime is planned parenthood guilty of? [emoji38]
They are guilty of the same thing as CMP: they have been accused of a crime by people who don't like them.

This is good news.

"The Supreme Court on Friday denied an emergency appeal from the California-based antiabortion group behind the secretly recorded videos of Planned Parenthood officials discussing fetal tissue recovery.

The group, known as the Center for Medical Progress, had filed an emergency appeal asking the high court to allow it to keep its list of key donors and supporters confidential.

But Justice Anthony Kennedy, who oversees appeals from California, turned down the request.

The center is fighting a lawsuit from the National Abortion Federation, which alleges the center's members got into federation meetings by lying about themselves and falsely promising not to reveal what transpired...."

Supreme Court rejects emergency appeal from California antiabortion group - LA Times

Let justice prevail and put these people out of business....or better yet, in jail.

While there does seem to be perhaps some legal recourse for what this group did, I don't see anything that would warrant jail time.

Exactly. From mediamatters.

But ask yourself if you approve of what they describe.

No, I don't approve of Operation Rescue stalking Planned Parenthood workers nor do I approve of Operation Rescue consulting with CMP to attack Planned Parenthood by deceitfully recording and editing video and using a false company and credentials to gain access to Planned Parenhood staff.

The names of major donators need to be released so a proper investigation can be handled by the law enforcement.
