Winter Arrives Early, Blanketing East in Snow

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/20/us...w.html?_r=1&hp

This might be weather story except it's front page news because it dangerous wide spread and has serious political ramifications what with all the lying going around about the HOAX OF GLOBAL WARMING .
The sale of beach wear took a hit today as the Global Warming the Chicken Little crowd keep screaming about failed to materialize in the east. Headlines proclaim a bit of a problem with something called cold snowy conditions.

Winter is coming but the snow beat it.

Washington Post: As storm buries Washington area, authorities plead: Stay home

Boston Globe: Region braces for a great white wave

Quote:
An enormous winter storm piled snow on New York and New England Saturday evening, after crippling the nation’s capital and the mid-Atlantic earlier in the day, causing thousands of flights to be canceled across the country, knocking out power lines and stranding motorists during the peak of the holiday shopping and travel season.

With winter officially starting on Monday, one to two feet of snow were expected to fall by Sunday morning from Virginia to New England, where blizzard warnings were posted for coastal areas.

And if you understood what global warming is, then you would know that weather like this is a symptom of climate change. Erratic weather patterns and extreme weather. Only the uneducated morons would put "global warming" in the context of it being hot all the time..

It is ironic that while the East US is cloaked in cold weather and Europe, the weather in parts of Africa have meant that there has not been any rain for 3+ years. This among other things means that Mount Kilimanjaro is going to be out snow for the first time in recorded human history. That Australia is still in the grips of the worst drought in recorded history which could cause parts of the Australian economy to collapse, and that the glaciers of the Himalayas and the Andies are disappearing. This alone threatens the water supply for over 1 billion people. Or how about the drought restrictions in your own country, where people are banned for using water hoses and filling swimming pools up?

Erratic weather where I live. October and November are suppose to be the wettest months of the year, and yet we had next to no rain and an indian summer where temperatures hit near 30 degrees (C) in late November. On the flip side this changed almost over night, and now we got rain (finally) and parts of Spain have seen insane cold weather and snow fall. Or last year where the Barcelona area was running out of water. It was so bad that even the rivers that go to Barcelona were running dry, and then over a 14 day period it rained so much that there was actual flooding and loss of life in the area.

So claiming that the nutso weather on the US east coast some how debunks global warming is stupid.. if anything it adds more credence to the theory of global warming since it adds to the insane weather patterns around the world. Like it or not climate change IS happening and we have to deal with it and sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the pollution and insane energy requirements of the US, India and China, is not going to help one bit.

No, it's winter time. Things like that happen in winter, you know?

.

Al Gore comes to mind.

Africa is hot and desert country, always has been.

It usually is in the summer. I have climbed high peaks, supposed covered in snow in the summer, yet the snow was patchy. The scree from glaciers still existed as did the glaciers, but they were slack in snow, due to summer time.

What parts of Australia, the desert parts, like a good portion?

Snow melts in the summer. Isn't Chile having summer right now? You know there are parts of the world that have summer while those of us, here, have winter time.

Not in my country. We have lots of rain. I don't have a swimming pool. I have a well, and I can use my water hose anytime I feel like it.

Temperatures like 86 deg. F are normal for Spain and Costa Del Sol.

Maybe you're going into another Ice Age. Put on more blankets, tonight.

I hope the people had the gumption enough to catch that rain water and save it.

No, it isn't. It's winter time. It snows in winter and often it doesn't. It just is cold. That's the weather for you. We have always had different weather patterns. Stop trying to impress others about your knowledge of the East Coast of the US. You don't know about east coast weather. All you know is what you read in your slanted newspapers.

Quote:

No, it doesn't. It adds credence to the insane idea that there is such a thing as global warming, perpetrated by liars seeking to control the populace. Since you claim it is so hot in Spain and Africa, why doesn't that same weather translate to equally hot conditions here in the East Coast of the US? We shouldn't be having this snow then. That would be real global warming, but climate change doesn't exist. It is a lie, perpetrated by the likes of Al Gore, who has no degrees in meterology and wrote a book based on lies from junk science.

You deal with it in Spain. Why should my hard-earned money go to tax dollars for an insane cause. I'm going out and play in the snow.

As someone who just got home 24 hrs later after being stranded in Virginia during the worst of it, let me just say that these types of storms are indicative of around every 5 to 8 years or so. We get some doozies up the east coast, my family just north of Baltimore, is getting hammered today with 2 feet. It is in my estimation a pretty normal thing.

But to Pete, I would say 'hooey' on your what is it today? "Climate Change"? Yeah, when it was realized by the Global Marxist crowd that "Global Warming" could no longer be a usable term of fear among intelligent people due to the fact that people around the world had been experiencing the coldest years on record for the past 10 years or so, then the mantra had to be changed. Too much invested in the hype to date don't you know.....

With thee IPCC mouthpieces, and supposed largest brains to look at the situation fudging data, omitting data that doesn't agree with man's supposed involvement, and the latest Russian data cherry picked to only take that which would strengthen the case for man's supposed dirty part in killing the planet, what a bunch of bunk!

Let me just say, that if the earth is going through some changes that aren't cyclical in nature, then who knows what's going on, surely not the people that claim that we can fix the earth if we really don't change what we do, just pay for a totally fictitious new commodity called 'carbon credits'....Yeah, that oughta do it! So I don't have to curb my CO2 output, just BUY carbon credits from some third world country who's GNP is mud bricks for huts, and all will be solved with Mother Nature. Are we really buying this crap?

I mean come on now, Methane is in the Atmosphere as well, are we going to start charging by the fart?

This is nothing more that a Global Redistribution scheme with Al Gore as the face, getting filthy rich off it, and our taxes going up for merely existing, so that some poor countries can get some global welfare to even the tables. I mean after all it just isn't fair that the Western Industrialized world is so damned rich. It is however, laughable, and kind of sad at the same time that we have allowed such a transparently foolish scheme to go on as long as it has, and allow the quack scientists to get away with making the discipline a mockery as they have.

I am just disgusted with these people!

Re: Winter Arrives Early, Blanketing East in Snow

It's late December

how can it not be prime time for winter weather?

For my scholastic dwellings, any month with an "R" in it can see winter weather. For my home-town we got snow, but no real problems.

Just excitement and then a massive let down; people expect much more from a snow storm here in RDU.

I feel the exact same about these kinds of threads.

Snow happen. Seasonal change is natural. Does not mean that climate change is false.

oh god. You give climate change thinkers a bad name. You don't even know the difference between a season and a climate.

Quote:
S: (n) climate, clime (the weather in some location averaged over some long period of time) "the dank climate of southern Wales"; "plants from a cold clime travel best in winter"
Hint,
"Four or Five Months" is NOT a long time.
