Global warming appears to have stalled. Climatologists are puzzled as to why average global temperatures have stopped rising over the last 10 years. Some attribute the trend to a lack of sunspots, while others explain it through ocean currents.

At least the weather in Copenhagen is likely to be cooperating. The Danish Meteorological Institute predicts that temperatures in December, when the city will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, will be one degree above the long-term average.

Otherwise, however, not much is happening with global warming at the moment. The Earth's average temperatures have stopped climbing since the beginning of the millennium, and it even looks as though global warming could come to a standstill this year.
Ironically, climate change appears to have stalled in the run-up to the upcoming world summit in the Danish capital, where thousands of politicians, bureaucrats, scientists, business leaders and environmental activists plan to negotiate a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Billions of euros are at stake in the negotiations.

Stagnating Temperatures: Climatologists Baffled by Global Warming Time-Out - SPIEGEL ONLINE - News - International

Given the latest news about emails and doctored data, I doubt we ever had a real warming trend now. I certainly don't believe in manmade global warming.

Those emails contain no doctored data, nor any admission that global warming is a hoax (RealClimate: The CRU hack). After having studied the evidence for years, I am convinced that anthropogenic global warming is occurring. There are plenty of peer-reviewed papers that explain all of this, published in top quality journals all over the world. Heck, i've even read a few of 'em. A little boring, but it's a topic I am interested in, so I checked them out.

However, while most liberals trust the scientific community on this issue, we ALL want them to be wrong. Hell, even the climatologists themselves want to be wrong. Simply put, nobody wants to damage the environment and spend billions cleaning it up. And I think you conservative types would agree with that.

So trust me when I say this. If global warming is a sham and our world's climate is gonna be just peachy for the next few millenia regardless of how much CO2 we throw into it, then us libs will happily admit we were wrong. Then we can all drive down to the local Starbucks in our 8-banger SUV's and have a few lattes together.

This stupid article again??? :lol::lol::lol:

If the author cared about facts, he wouldn't have penned this:

Simply untrue. And it doesn't take an Einstein to figure it out either.

Why the hell should I believe you? And you haven't read those emails, so you only know what is reported like me.

Prove it....

Wow, so Al Gore has single-handedly invented the internet and stopped global warming in the same lifetime? I'm so lucky to have witnessed this first hand.

There is two issues: global warming and AGW. This article is about global warming, where temperatures have plateaued this decade. If temperatures have plateaued, it is kind of difficult to claim the AGW is the cause of previous warming. AGW is also what is at issue with Climategate emails and data manipulations. AGW is what is most in doubt. It has had a negligible effect.

Ahh, but I did read the website I linked. And given that those very same hacked emails were attempted to be uploaded onto that site (and which the climatologists had a look at), then i'd say that's head-and-shoulders above anything you or I have read to the contrary, no? After all, the detractors haven't read those emails, either. But those folks I linked to certainly did.

As for believing me, I don't care. That's your choice. I just wanted to point out that those emails showed no doctored data, no global conspiracy, and no admission that global warming is a hoax among the scientists involved.

Regarding the issue of global warming, though, I think you and I can both agree that we hope that climatologists are wrong here. Conservatives and liberals both want a good ol' planet with a nice, stable climate, because unless someone gets busy terraforming Mars and Venus real soon, we live on the only game in town.

Wow the lies and exaggerations keep growing and growing. I bet Gore brags that he walked to school in 10 feet of snow when he was a kid, hence his current stance on warming. :2razz:

Normal climate change isn't what any of this political bull**** is about. Because the UN and others can't make any money, take control of the world or do any other maniacal thing.....because it's natural. But if they can blame people, why then they can push us into a OWG socialist regime with high taxes for the producers and doers.

Let's hope that AGW has had a neglible effect! While it's way too soon to count our chickens, as I said, everybody wants the scientific community to be wrong here. Hell, even the scientists themselves want to be wrong.

10 of the last 12 years are the hottest on record.
According to questionable data. The early 1900's had high temps too along with big hurricanes. Living in a country that sells oil and lumber for most of its exports, you better hope none of this bull**** ever passes.

They have sort have plateaued compared to 1998 (an El Nino year, which now ranks as the second hottest year on record). Now look at the temps with a graph starting from at least 1980, and you will see how much warmer we really are. BTW, 2005 is the hottest year on record.

Prove that the world temperatures of today are comparable to those of the early 1900's. Also, the data is not questionable.

No way!!! Scientists are evil, money-hungry, mind-reading liars!!!!

I was just making a funny, but this global warming hoax is the most embarassing bit of "science" every propogated. The Newtons and Einsteins would be ashamed of the complete tossing-aside of every principle of scientific process associated with the political stunt.

That's right, there's nothing saintly about them. You put them on pedestals like the pope.....inerrant. Bull****, we just caught supposed world-class scientists in climate change that at most lied their ****ing asses off and at least doubt their own data.

So what? We're in a maxima. My first problem is comparing year to year average temperatures. It would be better to compare temperature distributions. My second problem, or your problem, is that the rate of change in average temperature has plateaued. So what if the 2005 average temperature was 0.01 degree higher than 2004! (or whatever it is!) We are talking tenths of a degree in average temperature.

Attempts to extrapolate temperature increases over the decade is flawed.

Untrue.

You read a cherry-picked stolen email with was taken out of context.

Yeah yeah, cherry picked. Sure, if they lied and conspired in one email, then they did it in others too. Or do you think they retracted their lies in the other emails.

Doesn't matter that it was cherry-picked or stolen, they were authenticated as admitted by the authors and they demonstrate peer-review coercion, journal board manipulations, data hiding, paper exclusion, and possible data corruption.
