Much of that constitutes attacks on his "data," and attacks on the man himself wouldn't necessarily be fallacious if they were related to his propensity to produce false or incorrect findings.

I sure did. There was nothing damning in there. Now what's wrong with his data?

It wouldn't necessarily, but all I found in there is that he gets funding from oil companies. That proves nothing. I didn't see any proof of lies in the article, just ideas that were later disproved, which can happen to anyone. It takes a lot more than showing he was wrong to prove that he was lying. And even if he did lie, it doesn't prove that the data here are wrong. Taken altogether, that article doesn't even cast any doubt into the data.

There is no true empirical data on "global cooling" yet, just false data and twisted data points. However, global cooling could happen. As the Earth heats up, due to greenhouse gases, more clouds form, and those clouds reflect more sunlight back into space, thus providing global cooling. However, the global warming naysayers should not relax and say "I told you so" because of that. Weather patterns would shift dramatically. Our wheat belt would move up to Canada, and we would be left with desert instead of fertile land. Hurricanes would be stronger and more frequent. Flooding would also become more frequent. Also, as the weather patterns shift, there would be wars fought over, not oil, but potable water. And Earth's population? Maybe not a complete crash, but certainly negative growth as countless millions starve to death. The Earth is not going to become like Venus for at least 750,000 years, but when it does, there will be nothing we can do about it, because THAT global warming will be due to the sun getting hotter. But, at least, for the here and now, there is plenty that can be done. Either scenario, whether warmer or cooler global temperatures, would be disastrous, due to the reasons outlined above, and we do not have that much time left until we reach the tipping point.

Are you actually trying to claim that a few decades ago there was not any scientific consensus that we were going to face global cooling or an ice age? I said nothing about this nebulous group of people you refer to pushing a modern looming ice age/global cooling threat. You are right, not only are there no studies saying we in danger of the same, but the only name you have come up with that you say is doing this, is................ Gil here at DP. Which I don't believe is an honest assessment of his stance.

Respect has no bearing on validity. Newton was probably one of the biggest pricks out there, but look at all that he was right about.

Now, I can easily say that government supported studies are false because they have a bias to support studies that would require more government power. However, you would call that stupid, and rightly so. Just don't claim to be able to do the same thing with people who disagree with you.

This is one scientist who frankly has never been on board with CO2 - there are hundreds of others out there who disagree with him
