This seems big, is this big? Wow, just wow.
You sure would've never convinced me that the teamsters would make a move like this. I'm not sure I can explain why I'm shocked, but I really am shocked. I was more likely expected their next announcement would be to
reflect support for releasing the ban of off shore leases.

Hoffa also said that by investing in green energy solutions, the nation will reap the benefits of curbing its dependence on oil through a revitalized economy with the creation of millions of new jobs in a rapidly growing industry.

“Our economy is in shambles. Gas is climbing to $5 a gallon. The dollar has collapsed. Inflation is on the rise. Americans are seeing their paychecks shrink. Their family health care is being slashed,” Hoffa said. “Finding a long-term solution has a tremendous upside. It will be environmentally friendly and will serve as a much-needed boost to our sagging economy.”<snip>

Seriously, we need to get out of this short term mind set.
While I'm also hurting at the pump like everyone else, and wish that the prices would just magically drop. I realize the fact that they will only continue to rise unless we wane off oil.
The advocates of drilling are still of the short term mindset that wow, drill today and we can give the ME the finger. Not going to happen, keep on using oil as we do now and we will only continually demand more and increase our import of and be ever more reliant on oil.
Oil also being an international commodity unless we can completely rely only on domestic production it will never happen.

Did you read the quote or the teamsters release? They are removing, yes, REMOVING their support for ANWR and are promoting green solutions, saying in the words of Pickens, can't drill our way out of this one.

I read your source and yes I was quite supprised because this was a group screaming loudest for it.
But I think they, like Pickens are reading the writing on the wall. We need LONG term solutions, not the usual short term sound bites.

Yeah, I had that thought too. But the news itself sort of shocked me into not retaining the thought till you mentioned it. I thought it was James.

Yes, we need to find long term solutions, but we don't stop using what works now....and drilling is part of the near term solution.
