Current Mood: | Czech President Klaus ready to debate Gore on climate change Link Quote:
Washington - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."
Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.
"My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity," he said.
Gore a former US vice president who has become a leading international voice in the cause against global warming, was co-winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Gore's effort was highlighted by his Oscar winning documentary film An Inconvienent Truth.
Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.
"Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality," he said.
| I wonder if Algore will have the guts to face him.

Of course Klaus is ready to debate Gore. Gore doesn't need to debate this quack for precisely the same reason that Dawkins doesn't need to debate any creationists. right-wing think tanks employ these kinds of people to challenge Gore. It's been going on for some time. how many have there been now? 20? should Gore be obligated to publicly debate everyone that issues a challenge? if he doesn't, he is a coward?
consider this actual statement by Klaus:
"Let us resist the politicisation of science and oppose the term "scientific consensus", which is always achieved only by a loud minority, never by a silent majority"
think about that.
how is scientific consensus reached? what is a scientific consensus? are skeptical scientists, in fact, silent? are they actually a majority?
tell the President he's a fool, and heck, I'll debate him.

| I'd be happy to see him debate just one, but it'll never happen. Gore is making too much money with the lies and exagerations in AIT.

Its just funny that mainstream science has groups The National Academy of Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of Science, The Royal Academy of Sciences, and so on in its court, and the anti-science right has the President of Czechoslovakia.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of distinguished scientists that are skeptical of the AGW religion.
He also has a PhD in economics and did research at the Czech Academy of Science, so he is not a dummie. Of course he pales next to that brilliant scientist and champion of the left, AlGore.
