Police Lies: LAPD at it again

So this story is all over the news here in LA. Cops come into court....as usual.......take the stand and testify and claim that they observed a defendant toss some drugs......they recover the drugs and arrest the suspect.

Only problem....cops didn't know that a videotape existed that contradicted almost everything that they claimed.

Not only that....the cops are laughing on the tape, saying, we didn't find any drugs on this guy so make sure that you engage in some creative writing in your report.

Good cops should come forward and condemn these bad apples....unfortunately what I expect is that the "code of silence" will prevent this.....and the DA will claim that the tape doesn't tell the whole story......and these cops will be back on the street in a few months....

LAPD needs to deal with the rotting going on in its core.

Thank God this man had an excellent attorney that fought for him.

Re: Police Lies: LAPD at it again

"Los Angeles Police Department officials said they had launched an internal affairs investigation of the officers. Additionally, prosecutors said they would refer the matter to a division within the Los Angeles County district attorney's office that investigates police misconduct cases."

Your title is misleading.

I thought that these days, everything the police did was recorded on audio (via the mics they all seem to be wearing) these days. I can't find it now, but I swear about a year ago I read that those little boxes they wear are recording 100% of the time even when they are not near their dash cameras. It was presented as a "warning" to be careful what you say to an officer because your conversation would be recorded. But I'm not in LA so perhaps this is just a local thing.

LAPD certainly seems to have some issues, and if there officers are not being recorded at least via audio constantly, they should be. The idea that they are still only being reactive to this type of behavior from their officers is just disgusting. I suppose if they were not so well known for their shenanigans, then perhaps it wouldn't be necessary, but as it stands in LAPD some sort of constant monitoring of their own officers seems required at this point and well into the future. They need to find an active rather than reactive way of monitoring the integrity of each of their officers.

How is the title misleading....LAPD has been caught in lies yet again. Anyone who thinks this is an isolated incident is fooling themselves. The fact is, this type of BS occurs all the time, it just isn't caught on videotape.

As for the LAPD policing itself....puhlease......we've seen their "investigations" time and again....and as for the DA's office.....the Los Angeles DA has a history of sitting on these cases until the statute of limitations run.....even where the cops are put on trial AND CONVICTED.....the DA's don't pursue the case after appeals.
A jury convicted police officers here a couple of years ago, the judge set aside the conviction and the DA failed to pursue it. The DA's office doesn't take complaints against the police serious here.....its easier to turn a blind's eye.

Take for instance here: Rather than calling it for what it was - lying cops caught on tape saying write a false police report....the DA sights inconsistencies giving rise to reasonable doubt. Reasonable doubt?....get real....why don't these DA's have a backbone to call a f*@king liar a friggin liar?

Defund the Police State TODAY !!

Take away their money until all they can manage is responding to real crimes with citizen victims.

Victimless frame-ups like this = Police department with too much time and money on its hands.

But golly, without so much police activity, where would all the private prisons get their money??? Our system has become a disgrace, really.
