My position is that prejudice is prejudice regardless of the skin color of the individual that is a racist or prejudiced toward a group of people.

I must admit that I haven’t even come close to reading every thread or post in this forum, but have read enough of them to see the prevalence of race bashing. I did an open search of all forums here using the phrase “race card” and got 1000 hits (probably the maximum the search will find). My remarks could be titled “Prejudice and Race Relations in America”, but I see the US Presidential Election forum a better place for this issue because it is so active and race being so involved.

It is unfortunate that there have been so much derogatory and accusatory posts and remarks in this forum. They come from both sides of the fence.

And, let me state that I believe that most individuals here sincerely believe it’s the other guys that are racists or race card players.

I sincerely would like to understand the position of those of you that in my opinion see black and white in one perspective. And, of course I will be described as one too. Perhaps I am?

These 2 previous posts somewhat summarize my position.

1. So if Romney wins or Obama loses, you play the race card? And you throw in the voter suppression card as well? How convenient and predictable. If you are suggesting that the color of Obama’s skin was the reason less white voters voted against him in 2012 than in 2008, it is deplorable! And labeling GOP voters as members of the White party more deplorable.

Obama got a smaller percentage of the white vote in this election because of the job he did and his class warfare rhetoric. They (I) voted for a man in 2008 (not a black man) that promised hope and change. They didn’t feel they got it. So, they (I) voted for another man (not a white man).

It should be obvious that a percentage of blacks supported Obama because they believed he would best represent them. And, it also should also be obvious that a percentage of white voters supported Romney because he was someone that would best represent their interests.
And, it should be equally obvious and apparent that some or many blacks and whites voted based on the skin color of the candidates.

Anyone who sees only black or white themselves should at a minimum consider incognizant prejudice as a cause.

Racism is ugly and so is anyone that uses race to advance their own agenda.

2. There is no doubt that racism and prejudice exists in all ethnic groups in America, and this poll will be used for political and personal gains.

In my opinion, these tests and conclusions couldn't be more biased than I ever could have imagined. Many of the questions are constructed in such a way that it would be very easy for a person to give answers that supports the author's conclusion. I think most here would agree that many people do not have the best reading comprehension and some/most are terrible test takers. Then comes the interpretation of the answers. I guess they can really read our minds.

And implicit racism? Implied though not plainly expressed: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Sounds a bit inflammatory, doesn't it?

I clearly feel the race card has been used in this election, and racism/prejudice is shared by the electorate and both sides of this issue.
