I love how like 95% of the people who are suddenly claiming we should be optimistic from these elections, put aside our differences and work together to move "forward" also still point fingers at Bush and Republicans for causing all of our problems...

It's not working together that you're after, that's wanting people to side with you… and go along with everything you say… and accept that your solutions are the ones everyone wants…

Well, guess what, we did that from 2009-2010... it hasn't worked...

We've been coasting toward a fiscal cliff, with divisive partisan leadership which hasn't controlled the increase in spending, hasn't addressed entitlement program reform, hasn't eliminated the massive inefficiencies of government...

If you were so interested in putting things behind us, accepting blame is shared, and working together to solve our differences, you would've voted the current players out of office, in favor of people who have long records of doing that...

We just lost independent thinkers from the Legislature like, Joe Lieberman, Scott Brown, Dick Lugar, Mary Bono Mack, Larry Kissell, Robert Dold, etc. and they were replaced by hard-headed partisan hacks who played to their bases to win elections…

We've also just had our second straight presidential election where the Republicans ran moderate/independent candidates who have a history of working with both sides, and taking opposition to their party on occasion, that were defeated. Instead, people voted for a smooth talking Democrat who has pushed for an expensive liberal socialist agenda that we can't afford; hasn't shown an ability to compromise or work with people who oppose or are critical of him; hasn't taken responsibility for the effects of his policies; hasn't kept his promises; and continues to play the blame game, pointing fingers at his predecessor, and the opposition party...

So despite how inept and ineffectual our federal government has been over the past 2+ yrs in these most recent elections, the overwhelming majority of the people in power were sent back to keep doing what they're doing...

On top of that, in terms of preventing nepotism, and avoiding dynasties, castes, and royalty… we added another Kennedy to Congress, kept Jesse Jackson’s son in there despite ethics issues and illness, coach Jerry Tarkenian’s son was re-elected, and there are serious calls for a Clinton to run for president…

What exactly do we have to be optimistic about?

If liberal Democrats want trust and cooperation, how about they earn it and stop supporting policies that were introduced by Marx and Engels? How about they stop championing childish fantasies of tax the rich to feed the poor? How about they stop being envious/jealous of and trying to punish those corporations and individuals who are successful, rather than be happy for them, admire their abilities, learn from them, and follow their example of how to become it as well? How about they stop seeking out self-indulgence and instant gratification, then blame others when those things don’t work out, rather than taking personal responsibility for their actions and recognize how those actions affect the people around them and future generations?

if conservative republicans want trust and cooperation, how about they earn it and start learning to respect womens rights, come to terms with the reality that latinos are here to stay, and realize that karl marx is not an example of the average democrat and the american people know that.

and why does your lean say centrist? your post is full of the same rightwing venom that lost you guys the election a few days ago.

They don't.

As a student of Marxism, I guarantee you that the Democrats do not champion the direct ownership of the means of production by the workers.

Yes they do...

Obama's auto buyout is championed by them... They gave the company to the workers... the UAW is going to be the majority stake owner in GM, based off government funds...

They want the government to take over building of a rail system, whereas in most places rail systems are done by corporations looking to make profit...

They want government sponsored wealth distribution...

Obama wants to hire "an army of new teachers"

and fund more shovel ready projects... to fix the economy...

Psst... Democrats are the ones in power at the moment, and making the accusation that everyone should cooperate with them... how about answering that question first...

Also, I love how you're so quick to lump everyone critical of the Democratic Party as "rightwing"... I am a centrist... that's just where your party has gone at the moment...

FAR LEFT...

Marxism and Marxists believe that the working class ought to own the means of production. The specifics of this proposal are a bit vague - most of them end up coming off as anarcho-syndicalists, which is basically radical trade unionism (the unions own the factories and split the profit). I'm actually more sympathetic to this point-of-view than I am to milquetoast New Deal welfare statism, as it doesn't require direct intervention in the economy by the government. But anyone trying to tell you that Marxism and radical leftism is the same thing as Establishment liberalism is a hack who hasn't really studied either.

Federalized health care isn't Marxist; the German conservative chancellor Otto von Bismarck initiated it in Germany in the 19th century. Bailouts aren't Marxist; Dwight Eisenhower bailed out entire sectors of the American economy. Marxism is a specific concept with specific proposals.

you just called democrats marxist, when they're slightly left of center at best. you're not centrist, i'm sorry to be the one who breaks this to you mate. just be honest about your political ideology, there are plenty of conservatives on this forum, no one will judge you for it.

This is a repeat of many threads that deserves this response:

LMFAO @ left of center...

Pro-gay marriage, anti-voter id laws, tax the rich feed the poor style wealth distribution, punish corporations for being profitable, licenses and free college tuition to illegal immigrants, government ownership of industry, massive public works projects, pro-union policies, pro-minimum wage hikes, expansion of welfare programs, the belief everyone ought to be in the middle class, etc.

I am honest about my political ideology... It's time you start being honest with yourselves... that's marxist, lenonist-stalinist, maoist, BS... There is also the glorification of Che Guevara... whose image is even put on the walls of Democratic Campaign Headquarters...

If I were to quote you the words of JFK, you'd call him a "Neo-Con"... because that's how far left the Democratic Party has gone...

Theres a real close identification between the ideas and policies of Teddy Roosevelt, JFK, Reagan, and to some extent Clinton/Bush that is right in that center...

The Democratic Party is far left of that today...

It'll be ok Indep.
