Obama did not win by a majority

The media, so far, has REFUSED to publish TOTAL votes casts, to try to make it falsely seem that Obama won a majority of the votes by 3 million and by 50.45% of the total vote.
That, of course is a lie.

By vote totals - so far as it isn't over AND Florida NOT yet totalled, 3rd party and independent candidates received 1.43% of the vote. Thus, out of 119 million votes, Obama did not win with 50% of the vote. Obama won with 49% of the vote.

51% of American voted AGAINST PRESIDENT OBAMA. We need to remember a MAJORITY of Americans voted against him. He has NO mandate.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO REMEMBER THAT. Note it over and over. Obama's win was only 49% of total votes cast. He received a PLURALITY, and NOT a MAJORITY.

basically yes^. there is no mandate. even if obama had won by landslide, the american people chose to not flip the house, by definition the mandate is divided government/gridlock.
 
Well, I think its important to note the numbers relative to 2008. Obama lost ground in almost all demographics. I think it's a little extreme to call this a mandate.

He may not have a majority.

But he does have a plurality.

And that's absolutely enough to win an election in the U.S.

It's also the reason why third-party candidates can't get elected, even though they may be better representatives of the constituents.

Anyway, yeah he won. Don't worry, he cannot do it a third time so you are safe. Take some meds and a deep breath and just let the truth sink in. It will be OK.
 
^ I think I JUST won the BEST post-election anti-Obama reality.

The Demo media ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to publish TOTAL VOTES CAST OR RESULTS FOR 3rd PARTY AND INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES - to foster the LIE that Obama received a majority of votes - and then Democrats claim they "HAVE A MANDATE."

The FACT IS, a MAJORITY of voters voted that they did NOT want Obama to remain president. He gained a technical plurality, not a majority. The majority of voters rejected him and his agenda.

IT IS THAT SIMPLE A FACT.

I don't dispute that he won. Rather that the majority of voters voted to reject him And obviously he did NOT receive a "mandate." Last time he did. This time he did not.

The last plurality but rejected by the majority candidate was W Bush's 2nd term - and it appears by almost exactly the same total margin. We all know how well that worked out for us - a lame duck president a majority of voters rejected.
 
Can our tea party OPer tell us the last time a Republican president had a majority? Or does it matter for his meme.

So you've done the research and found that using your standard the same is true for Reagan? Or not? Are you talking about all adults eligible to vote or those that actually voted?

Eh, looks like maybe you should have checked before you shot off you mouth. The missing ballots are from Miami-Dade which is a heavily Democratic district.

And that statement would still be false.

Using a calculator I just added up all the votes that are NOT for Obama. They total: 60,016,069

All the votes FOR Obama: 61,112,143

So yes he did win a majority of ALL votes cast.
 
This thread just isn't working out like joko had hoped. It's what happens when you spend too much time getting your news from rightwing websites.
