As a far left liberal even I thought the right was going to take control but somehow the president and those in the senate who where being challenged big time won anyway. Was it liberal brillance? I think not. I think it was right wing stupidity. Why did the GOP run those two far right wing nutjobs who spewed anti abortion crap and lost both races they should have won.

Until you learn to tame the social conservatives and tea party wack jobs the GOP is going to become even weaker. I think this losing when they should have won should paint a clear picture. Unless the GOP comes into the 21st century on their social views and stop being such a bunch of crazy sounding cowboys on immagration reform then you have only yourself to blame.

Neither Romney nor Ryan are "far right wing". Not even close.

I agree that Romney is not far right but he aligned himself up with them to get their support and nomination....then when he tried to swing back to the middle it was too late.

Ryan in my opinion is far right on women's issues....that hurt...especially when Romney kept flip flopping on his position with womens issues.

Isn't Mitt "severely conservative?" LOL

A couple years ago Ryan pitched a budget that would have eliminated all taxation on Romney's millions of dollars in income. That's pretty far right wing. Not to mention he's way out there on a lot of social issues too, he's just smartly never made a big deal out of them.

But he was talking about rapey Senate candidates I think.

Exactly, and that's one of the biggest issues. Part of the low voter turnout was the REAL Right Wing staying home.

I agree but they would have been in debt to the far right and some of the wingnuts would have been appointed to positions of power. I think both Romney and Ryan are nice guys but I was in fear of the social conservatives that would be washed in by their wake if they won.

Tigger. The right wing showed up in droves. It was just the left showed up bigtime and that is always bad for the GOP. The GOP only wins when the vote is down because the far right votes like clockwork.

Akin and Mourdock hurt this campaign.

Thats what I am talking about. The conservatives are losing the culture war but winning the fiscal argument and they tried to ignore the social issues but when those two wingnuts spewed their BS it hurt the GOP period.

Wait.. I thought the "REAL Right Wing" hated Obama so much they were gonna come out just to get that "socialist" out of office?

The GOP still controls the House with its 6% approval rating. I would rather control the House as the party in opposition than any other part of the government.

There are about a million threads on this subject. Its getting confusing. Can't we merge some?

They lost because they lost touch. They had a guy who didn't care or understand regular people and his sidekick who didn't have the balls to commit to the game all the way (Ryan also ran for Congress in Wisconsin).
