......Obama will NOT get reelected in 2016. Thank God in heaven for our founders who established the limits they did. We will live through 4 more years of Obama. But what we look like coming out the other end of it is anybody's guess! If Ryan could run in 2016 I think he could win. But that's just me.

the Founders didn't set term limits.... we didn't have term limits for El Presidente until 1951

personally, i'm opposed to term limits... I believe the people should hold all the power in regards to limit terms ( by voting)

Yes, term limits is like the mayor of NYC limiting the size of soft drinks.

People should be able to make up their own decision how much pop their fat bellies can hold and they can also decide how they want to keep crook "A" in power.

Paul Ryan has been exposed as nothing more than a political charlatan who knows how to mouth the trite phrases of a small and increasingly less relevant group of ideologues. As with Mitt Romney, he showed himself to unable to answer serious questions about the policies he advocated and nearly as great an ability at flipping as the master of flip flop - Willard Mitt Romney.

Ryan who once spoke glowingly of Ayn Rand and how her writings were the primary reason he went into politics, during the 2012 campaign decided that maybe promoting an atheist 'philosophy' wasn't really what his base would want.

Ryan the "numbers wonk" who was never able to explain just how his budget proposals would actually work - probably because they were nothing more than Randian phantasms.

If that same mayor didnt get rid of term limits to run for a 3rd term, NYCers would still be allowed a 32 oz soft drink. Term limits work. The city of Chicago needs some.

Term limits prevent sitting presidents from accumulating so much power and political favors as to allow them to circumvent the political process and create a de facto dictatorship.

It's amazing how people drop their so-called "deep seeded" philosophies for political purposes. Many fundamentalist christian faiths viewed Mormonism as a cult....that is until Mitt Romney began running for President. Then Mormonism was okay.

I am not found of them either but I think the idea of two 6 year terms makes alot of sense.

why didn't we have a dictatorship prior to 1951?

It wasn't the founders that set the limit, FDR got elected to 4 terms, and the term limits were set after his death.

No one until FDR even tried to run for more than two terms. And there is some evidence that he *did* have dictatorial tendencies...trying to pack the Supreme Court, interning US citizens who had committed no crime, etc.

Yes! Horrible, horrible freedom of choice! That done been SHOWED.

he was certainly power hungry, illiberal, and authoritarian... but he was voted in fair and square every time.

the people simply wanted what he had to offer.

I think it would be nice if we held our leaders to their rightful constitutional roles... but we don't have a strong history of doing that ( even today), so i'm ok with letting the chips fall where they may and allowing the political cycle to operate at the behest of the people.

Personally, I don't think it'll be as bad as some on the right think.

But I also don't think it'll be anywhere as good as some on the left think.

Edit: The next four years, that is.

I've always been torn about term limits. Firstly I think, "who is the government to tell us who we can and can't vote for?" Then the other side of me sees how entrenched power can make things so bad.

For prez.. I'm for one 6 year term. Like Mexico has. Then when they are elected, they don't immediately start running for their second term.

i'm not gonna make a big stink over term limits, they are at the bottom of the list of problems we have with our government structure.

term limits or no term limits.. we are ruled by the 2 party platforms (it really doesn't matter much who the mouthpieces are)

My thoughts exactly
