Why did you have to put THESE people up for office in my state?

Attorney General: Marakay Rogers

Seriously? Combined with her main stated goal on one site..."The state needs to at least decriminalize medical marijuana, preferably decriminalizing the plant entirely."
Well...ARGGGGG! Seriously...it's like some horrible joke.

Auditor General: Betsy Summers
[h=3]47207.jpg[/h]I'm sorry, but frankly her teeth scare me.

Edit: BTW I also disagree with them on some things, or their apparent platforms were weaker than the opponent I chose.

It is called open elections and it has something to do with that pesky freedom and democracy thing you seem to not care for.

Actually, it is not a joke. it is an idea that would generate revenue and save a lot of money. We spend a lot to keep a relatively harmless substance illegal. There are reasons like greed of textile manufacturers, racism, and criminal involvement in the government as to why it is criminal to possess and use. it is healthier than both tobacco and alcohol, and if we legalized it we could tax it and gain a lot of revenue. It makes a lot of sense over fighting a war against it that we spend a lot of money on and don't make a dent with.

teeth? her teeth are why you complain? You don't even have a ignorant reason for this one? it is purely cosmetic?

Edit: BTW I also disagree with them on some things, or their apparent platforms were weaker than the opponent I chose.

You are lucky the US allows people of all intellectual levels to vote.

Libertarian candidate endorses libertarian policy position? Stop the presses!

I'm sorry, but frankly her teeth scare me.

Hmm. I'm getting an entirely different visceral reaction from them.

Well I was attempting some humor but apparently it didn't go over so well...

Not sure where you got THAT from my post.

I was actually attempting a joke, because in that picture she seemed half asleep - read: stoned....wants legalized marijuana...

Sigh...I should know better than to make jokes about deathly important things like this.

Well yes.
I mean I also looked at her qualifications, but in the end I kept staring at those teeth... :lamo

Indeed? I sense a thinly veiled insult here.

Meh. I suck at making jokes, especially at 4 AM.

Not sure I want to know.

It just struck me while I was researching candidates for my state elections...the pictures struck me, that is. The info on these two candidates in particular, not so much.

yeah, this is all one big joke to you, but you have offered up no substance at all. the only thing close to substance you claim was a joke about looking stoned. I will openly admit i think that is a piss poor way to vote. I think that is even worse than people who vote on party lines no matter what.

Damn lighten up shhhes. It's an internet forum, no one gives a ****. It was funny you know a freaking joke.

I don't believe many people understand libertarian ideals or classical liberalism in general. The misconceptions surrounding the philosophy are astounding.

I suppose one could sum the philosophy up as such -- who is one individual to tell another individual what they can and cannot do as long as they're harming no one?

One doesn't need to be a pothead to see that telling someone they cant ingest pot (or any substance) is wrong..

Let people live their lives how they see fit - we don't need government playing "big mamma" - telling us what is acceptable and what's not..... What's the point of being an adult if your life is dictated by a bunch of meaningless laws that are only on the books to satisfy a bunch of fascist authoritarian egomaniacs whom are obsessed with what others do and how they live their lives.

Libertarians feel they have been walked on by the 2 major parties so they don't always have a sense of humor.

What libertarians fail to take into account, however, is that without government agencies to act as a balance against large corporations, then business interests will take on the role of tyrannies as they pool their wealth and inhibit the prosperity of the community for their own self-interested profit.

So many of us do, indeed, have an adequate understand of what libertarians believe. And we still think they are wrong.

Competition would prevent that from ever occurring...

Not to mention most libertarians don't have a problem with government per se - just the federal government. States can legislate all they like just as long as their legislation doesn't violate the Bill of Rights.

My problem is with the federal government creating an umbrella of legislation which we all must obey.. A lot of manifested federal laws should be left to the state and or citizens of a state to decide - not the damn federal government.

It's not the federal governments position to be getting involved in peoples lives or state and local policies and legislation...

If this is really a free country then let communities decide whats best for their community.

Competition would not prevent that from happening when there's no government to enforce non-monopolistic activities by business interests.

And business create just as many problems as the government does if they are not limited as well.

I'll agree to keeping government local when corporations are likewise limited.

Problem with Libertarians is that they are a completely unorganized bunch. There are bigger fish to fry in this country, and this woman thinks decriminalizing the hippie lettuce is gonna solve something?

YEs...the Libertarian party is often their own worst enemy when it comes to nom nom inees.

On the other hand...

(well...I WAS going to take the time to post a bunch of pictures of democrat and republican politicians...but you get the gist)

Have I said that I can't wait until all this is over with!?

Yeah.

That.

Monopolies are only created with the help of the Government. Again, the free market would not allow for this.

Well, how exactly do you organize a bunch of individualists? Kinda like herding cats.

You MIGHT note the hypocrisy in your own comment. There ARE bigger fish to fry in this country and spending billions fighting marijuana is kinda goofy. Arresting people over possession of a miniscule amount of marijuana uses time and resources. Mandatory charges in one state on an item that is legally and medicinally used in another state is kinda goofy. Perspective is everything...and you REALLY might want to reassess your comments as to which side of 'goofy' yours is.

Unless companies did price dumping to prohibit the entrance if competitors.

Which governments are needed to prevent.
