Lima, Peru (CNN) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the buck stops with her when it comes to who is to blame for security ahead of a deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
"I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru for a visit.
The Obama administration has been heavily criticized after Vice President Joe Biden said during last week's vice presidential debate that the White House did not know of requests to enhance security at Benghazi, contradicting testimony by State Department employees that requests had been made and rejected. Following the debate, the White House said the vice president did not know of the requests because they were handled, as is the practice, by the State Department.

Obama said in the second debate (and probably elsewhere, this is the one point I remember) that he bears ultimately responsibility. Hilary coming forward of her own volition to take responsibility doesn't change that fact. So I don't know how this statement is accurate or fair.

A troubling accusation, but the source is Ed Klein, a conservative author who has been accused of fabricating stories in the past, who claims Clinton's legal counsel (apparently in breach of his fiduciary duties) told him that Clinton told him. That's like triple hearsay from a questionable source. It may be true, I have no idea. But I'd take it with a grain of salt for now.

Yep and since the CIA has thrown them under the bus, there is no upside for the WH. McCain on Face the Nation this week mentioned in passing that there was a new story that Obama authorized intervention and the SecDef didn't follow through. I think they are throwing everything at the fan at this point for what will be coming in the not so distant future.

The leaks have begun and will probably gain momentum until after the election. The Clintons will not allow themselves to take the hit for the Benghazi screw-up and the leaks will be coming through Conservative sources in order that Liberals keep their hands clean and don't make enemies. Just a guess.

This kind of "report" is no different than Reid saying someone told him that Romney hasn't paid any taxes in 10 years.

Obama watched them die, bottom line. Let's stop playing politics, and accept the truth.
 
Dont care what Hillary accepted, her boss is where the buck stops.
She didnt win the election. He did. His job, his authority, his responsibility.

I don't know how you can say "the Clintons will not allow themselves to take the hit for the Benghazi screw-up" when in your previous post you were complaining about how Hillary has already volunteered to take the hit. That doesn't make much sense.

And Ed Klein is the last person Clinton would reveal this type of information to, given what he has published and said about her in the past, and given that nobody except the extreme right-wing takes him seriously.

I wasn't "complaining" that she took the hit but if you read her declaration of apology you'll see that she also deflected it to the intelligence community. That's probably why the leaks are now being made, and with Fox News as well. Everyone the MSM would have buried them.

With solid evidence everyone has to take it seriously, and who better to give it too then someone who would be sure to get the information out there. Do you really believe that Chris Mathews or the New York Times would be interested in a story like this?

In fact it took a few days for some of the media to finally begin their reports because even they recognized it was just to big to be indefinitely ignored.

Of course it would be best for the United States if the people elected Mitt Romney but it would be interesting, and entertaining, if Obama was later impeached, forced to resign, and Joe Biden became president.

It's hard to forget that the same mind that chose Joe Biden as his running mate also headed up the country for four years.
