Republicans Have Won Every November 6th Presidential Election Since 1860

A Dick Morris prediction for Romney pretty is the same thing as a prediction that Obama is going to win. This is the guy that said that the pick of Sarah Palin was an ingenious move that will single handedly win the presidency; and then he bestowed the same platitudes on McCain's decision to suspend his campaign so he could go to Washington to fix the economy.

Dick Morris: A sign of the times - Salon.com

In Dick Morris' world these were ingenious. In reality, they were probably the two biggest bonehead moves of McCain that collectively probably cost him the election. This is exactly the type of astute political analysis this guy brings to the table. The guy is a buffoon. There is far better insightful political commentary on this site on any given night than Dick Morris has ever offered. The guy commits an act of fraud each time he deposits his paycheck.

Full Disclosure: I don't care much for Dick Morris. I think he is a buffoon.

Things sometimes run in cycles and then the cycle is broken.

It seems that Reagan broke the "Death Curse" that threatened US presidents who were elected in years that were evenly divisible by 20.

1840 Harrison
1860 Lincoln
1880 Garfield
1900 McKinley
1920 Harding
1940 Roosevelt
1960 Kenedy

Yeah, that's about as credible as Howard Dean predicting that the Dems would hold the House before the 2010 election. :lamo

Or...say...Nick Silver...?

Oops, the pass bounced off your chest.

The point is that all coaches don't start out with the same level of talent, and all presidents don't start out with the same fiscal and economic conditions. The Great Recession was the worse economic downturn since the Great Depression. FDR was inaugurated at the nadir of the GD, just as Obama was elected near the nadir of the GR. FDR was reelected when unemployment never dipped below 15% during his first term. He's considered one of our greatest presidents.

To continue your football coach analogy, was Jimmy Johnson an awful coach when he went 1-15 in his first year with the Cowboys? No, he wasn't. He just inherited an awful team that took time to develop.

No, the pass sailed over your head.

Jimmy Johnson didn't go 1-15 for 4 straight years. And what's your explanation for Jim Harbaugh turning not only the 49ers around, but Alex Smith as well? Losers use excuses for failures. Winners and mostly champions overcome inevitable adversity. Again, if an NFL coach had Obama's record for 4 years, he'd be fired. FDR introduced us to a model of socialism that academia gets off on. Why do you think he's considered one of the greatest presidents? Gee.... academia wouldn't have anything to do with that now, would it?

Dick Morris has been right about things as well however. He was right about the 2004 election, as well as the 2 Clinton elections. I just don't see where he gets a landslide. And that goes for both sides. If ANYONE thinks this is going to be a cake walk elections for either candidate, you are dumb.

I don't know a Nick Silver, but Nate Silver called every state save one in the '08 election and he called every Senate election in 2010. What's Carl Rove's record on predictions?

Truth to tell, though, Silver is pretty cautious. Sam Wang of the Princeton Election Consortium, who called the '08 election to within one electoral vote, gives Obama a 90% chance of winning.

Who said anything about Carl Rove?...pathetic

How in gods name does Obama wanting to run for president invalidate the scientific fact that he inherited a complete mess - how does it even relate? If Romney wins, he may never mention the economic situation he inherited because he wanted to be president? what the hell is this nonsense?

Man, this is so boring. It also insults ones intelligence. A CEO causes his company a huge debt and then gets kicked out and the next CEO has to take loans to pay all the outstanding bills that the predecessor ignored or the company may go bankrupt, then the new CEO is much worse because he had to pay for his predecessor's gaping fiscal hole? Huh??? How do you think youre ever going to convince anyone outside the choir with this glaringly transparent nonsense?

Simple … all I said was to man up and do your job, blaming Bush four 4 years is getting old, and by the slim chance Romney is elected, if he blames Obama for four years I’ll be on him for it too. Obama knew the challenges facing him. Stop whining about what you were handed and just do your job.

Yeah and if 4 years later, he had gone in debt as much as his predecessor had in the 8 years before him, and the company has shown only anemic improvement, and his contract was up, he would expect it not to be renewed.

Sorry to tell you but in business failing is not a good thing.

It appears the GOP is now putting its hope in numerology. Kind of like their voodoo economics.
