Wisconsin objects to Romney training manual urging incognito poll watchers - Open Channel

The Wisconsin agency that oversees elections is objecting to an internal training handbook distributed by Mitt Romney’s campaign that appears to instruct volunteer poll observers in the state to conceal their ties to the GOP candidate when they show up at polling stations on Election Day, a state official tells NBC News.

And once they have done that...technically not illegal but immoral... seems the Wisconsin agency that overseas elections "forgot to renew" the rule that actually makes it illegal conceal your affiliation at the polling station.. tsk tsk..That is basic running of an election 101 in a modern democracy...

Magney said there were other problems with the training handbook, including its definition of ineligible voters-- whose ballots could be questioned -- as a "person who has been convicted of treason, a felony or bribery." Magney noted that under Wisconsin law, convicted felons who have served their sentences can have their civil rights restored and are eligible to vote.

The Romney campaign handbook also lists "The ONLY Acceptable Forms of 'Proof of Residency'" for voters -- and then mentions a number of items, such as current and valid drivers’ licenses, photo identification cards from employers, real estate tax bills and college IDs. But Magney said the list is incomplete, failing to mention other forms of proof, including any communication from a government agency, such as student loan documents or vehicle registration cards.

So no voter intimidation there.. right? Not only conceal your political affiliation but then also give out false information and attack legitimate voters.... pathetic GOP.. really pathetic.

Looks like you left out half the articles points. Pretty lame presentation here. Another big *YAWN* for you.

Why do you support Obama despite being in Europe?

There's a problem that in this country, we've entrusted our elections to the parties. We let the foxes into the henhouse and let them make the rules.

And who is the Governor of Wisconsin right now. AHhhh I forget. Oh Yes Somethng walker. a real mainstreamer.

I don't see why it's a big deal to hide party affiliation when you're working the polls. Polling places are SUPPOSED to be neutral ground. I cannot wear a pro-candidate or anti-issue shirt when I vote and cannot take in outside fliers that support or reject candidates or issues. Why should those working the polls be running around proudly proclaiming their biases and affiliations, and how does them suppressing those characteristics in ANY WAY equate to voter intimidation?

There not working at the polls they are "observers". they are suppose to keep their mouths shut unless they notice a problem and then they are to report it to the ward boss. They are also suppose to be neutral and have no affilation. Apparently the law has changed since I lived there. Because when I did this type crap was a misdemeanor.

Observers observe they don't hand **** out or talk to anyone. Thats whats wrong.

the rule that actually makes it illegal conceal your affiliation at the polling station..

Oh. Would this mean the United Nations OSCE monitors would have to wear Obama T-Shirts?

For almost 30 years now, the GOPs strategy has been to suppress voter turnout as the only way to win elections. This practice has become more central to the GOP as it declines into demographic extinction. It's hard right xenophobic policies needed to keep its reactionary white male bases on board (most of them working class and harmed by GOP economic policies), disqualifies it for most minorities voters, who will soon be in the majority. Thus conservatives can no longer win elections except by suppressing the votes of minorities and working people, even if that requires intimidation and fraud.

^ A very xenophobic message. Endless excuses by Democrats. Really, you are SUPPOSED to wait until after the election to make that excuse.

Obviously, Obama is president because of voter fraud and suppression. That is your point, right?

It just goes on and on, these deliberate acts of displaying you inability to comprehend simple English. Here, you think the poster said that Obama benefited from fraud, in another thread you believe Wilkerson claimed dems have more racists.

If your ability to counter arguments comes down to totally lying to yourself, what is the point, other than filling a thread with your obvious falsehoods? What do you think you gain by making yourself look so BAD?

Hey look kids, a rhetorical response because he can't respond to the merits.

GOP policies are xenophobic and target immigrants and undisclosed elements from which we must "take back the country" (black people?)

Going back to the topic, the GOP has intensified its longstanding voter suppression practices even to the point of outright intimidation and fraud. Conservatism has no other strategy since it is intellectually bankrupt.

Same old tired narrative. The conservatives I know don't care what race people are who shares their values. The are interested in taking the country back from people who do not share their values. It has zero to do with race. The constant insistence on (black people?) is either fantasy or dishonesty.
