Obama is a douchebag...exploiting hurricane tragedy for political gain

Yes, Obama is exploiting the situation and it's absolutely disgusting.

You didn't see Bush sinking to this level and exploiting the situation after the hurricane hit New Orleans.

No, the fact he was absent was appalling.
And wasn't bush doing photo ops on the rubble on 9/12?

Thanks for offering an opinion contrary to conventional wisdom...

You are welcome, but your link does not address that Obama's presence will divert resources from the rescue/recovery efforts. Local police and fire & rescue will have to take people off the rescue efforts to assist with security/safety for the President. Airspace that could be used by those actually assessing the damage as professionals will be closed. There is nothing his presence adds to what is going on and nothing he can do there that he cannot do in DC., but a lot of unnecessary distraction he could provide. He should at least wait until Friday, but IMHO, he wants the photo op ASAP for final ads this weekend.

.... and this is different in what way?

Bush, on-site, two days after disaster...... He should have taken a page from his own playbook and been their in New Orleans as well.

No he waited three days after the attack.

No, the link stated that Obama's instincts, thus far, have been on the mark. It is what President's do.... its part of the job. The big scandal is the President that is NOT there.

My point was to explain why this troubles the Cons... its not for the reasons you stated. Its frustrating because Obama gets to do his job in a very public way and Romney gets sidelined.

I will find the link where Christie says the White House is all business right now and all those working on this disaster have put politics completely aside.

I do not think the President should be there yet. Sorry. I know that Presidential trips consume local resources. Of all the footage I have seen this evening, things are still pretty fluid and people are still being rescued. Having to support the security details right now is a distraction from rescue. Waiting until friday would give people time to do what they have to do and get some rest. I'd be betting there are cops and firefighters who are going on 48-72 hours with little to no sleep right now as is. It feels to me like Obama is doing it as a campaign thing timing wise. He should wait regardless of whether people want to see him there.

This post is ignorant. I got a letter from a guy that does things for this forum because I gave an inappropriate response before. Before I get another "letter" let me just say this: this is silly to think a president visiting devastation is exploiting for political reasons, especially when the crazy governor is commending him. With that I leave you all with another great Rodney Carrington gem, "Show them to Me":

We all appreciate your opinion on the subject, but note that Christie and Obama have been working together and Christie is praising the President's attention to this. With all due respect, I think we can let Chris Christie make the call as to whether Obama is welcome in New Jersey tomorrow and whether they get to walk arm to arm on the beach.

I'm sure if Chris Christie were not up to his elbows in alligators, he would personally extend to you his appreciation your opinion and attention to this matter, but it sounds like its covered. BTW, right now, at least as far as the Sandy is concerned, Christie does not agree with you that Obama is a .....[ whatever colorful metaphor you suggested....].

An conservative pretending to be an independent? Say it ain't so.

Oh, and when lard ass republican butt slurper Chris Christie decides to thank Obama for the federal assistance that should tell you that your guy mittens is a loser who should stick to not winning his pony ballet competitions. Do you know how hard it must have been for Christie to rip himself from the republican human centipede? They should get a doctor for his fat ass because whipping around so fast when you are that large is probably going to tear some things inside you. Maybe romney can recommend the doctor that handles his flip flop whiplash.

"lard ass butt slurper"?

Liberals are so vulgar. No wonder Obama appeals to you.

What a pathetic and sad post.

I wouldn't say that Obama is exploiting. I think you could make that argument with every President in the history of this country. I think he should go to NJ. If Christie is fine with it, so am I.

So, now he's exploiting the situation?

Obama just can't win with some people, even when he's just doing his duty as President. Some of the stuff I read here never ceases to amaze me.

Yeah because Bush didn't do a damn thing in New Orleans. He was slow, and many people suffered because of it. Bush is the LAST person to mention when it comes to natural disaster tragedies unless mentioning his idiot crony Brown.

The last thing these people need is to have their limited and invaluable police, fire, rescue resources diverted from helping victims to handhold the President and the Washington Press Corps. But hey, there is an election next week so let people suffer for a free campaign event.

Hurricane Sandy: New Jersey is Ground Zero, Obama to Visit Wednesday | Fox News Latino

President Barack Obama will travel to storm-stricken New Jersey on Wednesday to view damage from the massive storm that aimed straight for the state leaving shore lines decimated, 2.4 million without power, and communities flooded.

The White House says Obama will join New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in viewing the damage. Christie is a Republican who has been an Obama critic. But on Tuesday he praised Obama's leadership in dealing with the storm disaster.

"The level of devastation at the Jersey Shore is unthinkable," he said. "Houses are moved off their foundations, there are houses in the middle of route 35."

The governor went on to say, "It is beyond anything I thought I'd ever see...It is a devastating sight right now."

Obama said Tuesday at Red Cross headquarters that the storm "is not yet over." He said there are still risks of flooding and downed power lines and called the storm "heartbreaking for the nation."

It's cute what you did with this thread, in response to the "Romney is a douchebag" thread.

However, there is a difference between their respective actions. Obama, as the sitting president, has a responsibility to survey the situation, talk with Christie about the needs of NJ, and direct relief efforts. Romney, as a civilian, has no such responsibility.

While it is impossible to predict the future, I suspect based on your posting history that if Obama had not gone, you would be criticizing him for ignoring the tragedy and abdicating his responsibilities. Whereas when it appeared that Romney had decided to temporarily stop campaigning, liberals were actually complimenting him.

So those are the major differences between the two situations.

I KNEW it wouldn't take long for someone to make an excuse to bash Obama over whatever he did in this situation. Had he not gone, he wouldn't have been presidential... Instead he went and he's "exploiting" this. Hell even Bush's failed FEMA director Michael Brown who did jack **** when Katrina hit is chiming in and saying Obama responded to Sandy TOO quickly. You guys are too funny.

Another one using the lie in the title of the Think Progress piece to try to make a point. I love it.

When CNN is reporting that at least 1,000 people are believed trapped in their homes in New Jersey, it is so caring of Obama to visit when said visit will require Emergency Services people to stop assisting those 1,000+ people and assist the SS so Obama will have footage for his weekend "Romney would let you drown" ads.

What was Obama thinking? Why didn't he provide buses so the people of New Jersey could leave?

How is it that we haven't caught this poe yet?

you can so tell election time is here

another thread another HUGE FAIL lol

:failpail:

Yes. He is only supposed to fly over in A.F. One and look down like Bush did after Katrina.

Yea how dare he actually walk around! Walking and visiting disaster areas is just "exploitation".. :lamo

What a hack!

Yes. But of course your premise is false.
