Romney lie - Jeep moving all production to China

Pick one:

___ I was lying.

___ I made a mistake.

If you can't do it, I understand. Admitting one is wrong leaves a bad taste. I'd say I've made my point. I'll leave you alone on this now.

you nailed him to wall with his own nails, maggie. great job !!!!!

This is pathetic, you've lowered yourself to playing little kid's games, did you learn this from Bill O' Reilly? Yes I made a mistake. Here is the difference though, Mitt just made something up completely out of thin air. He didn't mix up his words, he didn't get something kind of wrong, he didn't fudge a fact. He completely made something up out of nowhere.

According to you apparently politicians can now say ANYTHING and later say oh I didn't mean that, it was a mistake???

LAAAAWL!

Seriously go take a shower to get all this filth off you.

Lmao... oh boy... you guys are something else. Only in wishy poo try hard to pretend land could this be true.

Do you want to make a sig bet that Jeep changes it's tune after the election?

We already know 7 out of 10 GM cars are produced outside of the US right now. Auto Parts Manufacturing Jobs are down 40% over the last decade.

Oh, no, Verax. Bobcat's correct. I thought he expressed it quite eloquently.

If you think that a politician intentionally LIES about information that can be so easily vetted, you are completely and totally incorrect. You just enjoy calling the opposition a liar. This was massive gaff -- which is what I said in my first post on this thread. "Gotcha Games" are for children. Stop playing them.

I already didn't listen to anything Bobcat said but now I'll have to add Maggie to the list. You've shown yourself to just be a joker that won't be intellectually honest when it suits you. Therefore I'll take everything you say with a grain of salt from now on. You were already on thin ice before this, lol.

Enjoy celebrating your "victory" on the short bus. :lamo

It was an intentional lie that he repeated more than once -- not an unintentional gaffe.

Romney said Chrysler is thinking about moving its Jeep production to China!!!!

S'matter? Won't anyone else argue with you?

It was a mistake. I realize that you think you know the workings of people's minds, always imputing "the other guy is lying" and "my guy was mistaken." But can't you be nonpartisan once in a while? Or is it true what others say here? Are you an operative for the Democratic Party? :ninja:

Maggie, I would accept that it was a mistake, if Romney or his campaign said it was, but as of this morning, I can find no such statement.

Please show me why you think it was an intentional lie. Links, please.

Or was your statement that he said it more than once a lie?

I understand. I don't know that he's admitted to the mistake. Campaigns (either side) don't do that as easily as they should. But to believe that he intentionally misrepresented something that could be so easily vetted is preposterous, in my opinion. (Sometimes I just get sick of the partisan hackery. And sometimes? That partisan hack is me, unfortunately. Ha! Here's what Chrysler itself had to say:

From Chrysler...

The Bloomberg story, however, sparked the confusion in the first paragraph of the story, saying Chrysler planned to return Jeep output to China "and may eventually make all of its models in that country."

Here's the article:

Fiat Says Jeep Output May Return to China as Demand Rises - Bloomberg

Fiat SpA (F), majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers’ operations in the region.

Looks to me like they're planning to move....

Right, and that is a lie.

Sig bet we see a news story after the election where Jeep quietly confirms that Romney was indeed correct

Romney will soon be a god. And god doesn't lie.

Maybe Romney knows something you don't. Maybe Bain Capital has come up with enough cash to buy Jeep from Chrysler.

Yes, that is how lying works. You cherry pick and misinterpret a quote while ignoring the parts of the article that make it clear you are lying:

Chrysler currently builds all Jeep SUV models at plants in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Manley referred to adding Jeep production sites rather than shifting output from North America to China.

Chrysler has already said Romney was lying.

I think this shows a pretty fundamental characteristic of liberals vs conservatives. Liberals will generally admit when they are wrong when it has become apparent, conservatives will go to the grave lying, possibly even to themselves.

Chrysler owes the US taxpayer billions upon billions of dollars and was bailed out by Obama

I will sig bet you and anyone else that Jeep will quietly change their narrative after the election. You will quietly see a few "MSM outlets" dump it on a Friday on page 6. We're 9 days from election. Everything is about the narrative.

Meanwhile it helps the Obama Campaign now when it really matters when Obama and the Chicago Thugs are in panic/desperation mode. Pardon me if I'm not buying what clowns like you have claimed are "EVIL LYING RICH PEOPLE" ie in this case the "corporation" Chrysler who profited off of OUR money they haven't paid back yet. Suddenly corporations always tell the truth and this has nothing to do with re-electing the guy who has been lining their pockets for years on OUR dime.

Do I need to photoshop clown make up on your avatar? Everything that you type with your fingers is emotional rabble rousing and Alinsky nonsensical garbage.

If you know nothing about cars and nothing about simple logic, it may appear they are planning to move.

What are their "models"? Grand Cherokee, Patriot, Wrangler, Compass and Liberty.

So, when they say "plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country", that means they plan to make Grand Cherokee, Patriot, Wrangler, Compass and Liberty models in China eventually. That does not mean they plan to move all production to China, and if Romney's dad ran a car company, Mitt should know that.

As the Chrysler blog entry says " A Chrysler spokesman scorned the misinterpretation as "a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats,".

That's a nice way of say Mitt lied. I can read that article and I know that what Mitt said is not what was going on, and Chrysler confirmed it.

If you know nothing about cars and nothing about simple logic,
I'm not talking about Chrysler itself moving..... at least not yet. I am talking about Jeep, here in America, moving, which means a loss of jobs, here n America. This means we are losing even more jobs under your choice for President, which is part of an ever disturbing trend. Perhaps the Prez is planning to replace those lost jobs with shovel ready jobs?

This wasn't a lie. It was a monumental gaff.
It's a gaff if you say it once. But when you repeat it multiple times, and you have no comment when you're asked about it, and then you produce an add around it..... well, I'm not sure it's possible to lie more.

This is Romney's MO. He says whatever helps him at the moment, regardless of any position he's taken in the past. To a person, every other candidate in the Republican primary called Romney a liar. The thing I worry most about a Romney presidency should also scare every single Republican.... We have no idea what Romney would do when he gets in office, and neither does he.

Mithros, I've asked several times on this thread to link me to the more than one time he supposedly said this. And now you say he made an ad around it. Could you please link me to these things? Chrysler said the Bloomberg article was misleading. I posted their letter earlier in this thread. I'm willing to admit that Romney LIED if anyone can show me that, after he was corrected, he kept on saying it. (Blogs all over the internet were also saying Chrysler was moving out their Jeep production; that, combined with the confusing Bloomberg story, sure makes this seem like a mistake. Got any links to support your assertions?
