New York Times endorses Barack Obama for 2nd term

thatg should make all 5 of their readers very happy :)

I'm shocked. SHOCKED!!!

Des Moines Register endorsed Romney.

I love it!

Not sure that I agree with this. Although it's true that the editorial pages are keen on BO, I still don't like media openly endorses a candidate. I guess because it doesn't happen in Australia. The American Way?

Seeing as every paper/media outlet is biased, just like every individual, I think I prefer open endorsements to a pretence at impartiality, with a secretive underlying agenda.

The people who read editorials already know which way they will be voting. I have yet to meet anyone who thinks newspaper endorsement matter. I bet the Washington Times will not be be endorsing Obama
:)

The old gray hooker doesn't make any pretense at all of impartiality.

you would be surprised how many people that don't follow things like we do here vote on who is endorsing who....young people see the actors that endorse Obama and think that well if they are endorsing him then he must be all they are saying he is.....people that read the paper or hear on the radio that a paper is endorsing them they they think the same...if that big paper is endorsing him then he must be ok to vote for.......I have a friend that does that...he does not read well so goes by what he hears from others....or by what his family members tell him or by what the ads say....many just don't do the research that we all do....to many people that vote are just way to uninformed....at least here we all try to stay up on everything....no matter what side we tend to lean on...sure in here we are a he said she said....but at least we are engaged.

I think if the truth be told, as many people pick their vote by spite as they do any other reason

NY times has over 2 million paper subscriptions, I know you dont like the paper but don't down play its size.

I was being sarcastic.....its like the #1 paper for all liberals.....and those that lean left......I should have clarified that....

I think its a fairly diverse paper, their opinions section offers numerous perspectives and isn't so cut and dry as "right and left" and their analysis of the news from a non partisan perspective is pretty top notch in my opinion. I think too many on both the left and the right have your opinion, just as many on both the right and left think the WSJ leans right as well.

Yet, did you ever have the slightest bit of question as to whom the NYT was going to endorse?

Err, isn't that article only one person's opinion? I mean, it is on the editorial page.

It's the editorial staff. Not a contributor. Idk, it just doesn't happen. No paper with a conservative or social democratic lean would endorse either candidate. I guess in part because we do not have truly national campaigns.

I didnt know the NY times did endorsements, but either ways its possible to do unbiased reporting and do an endorsement

That's not what I asked.

Had you known, would you have had the slightest bit of question?

They endorsed Obama and made him man of the year for 2008. If Romney wins I wonder if they'll do the same thing (I doubt it). The Times has pretty much always had a liberal bias, I'm not surprised at all.
