Petraeus Throws Obama Under the Bus

The last flag flying there and without essential security. Great foreign policy Mr. president. Then it appears you lie to deflect the tragedy: 1) it was an impromptu act of violence In response to a video; and 2) we responded as the intelligence came in.

What bull****

The British had left and so had the Red Cross. They should have pulled out in August.

I have been surfing around the net and I must confess only Fox news is on this story. In fact, I can find it mentioned on other news outlets but just in a factual sort of way. One of the things that has caused me to turn completely away from the RW is the hysteria and outright lies and twisting. This is probably going to go the same way as F&F, another RW outrage that fades away, just to be recycled occasionally to rile up the wing nuts.

I've been searching the web also trying to find more details on this storyline and have only found blogposts from Conservative sites and news reports mainly Fox and CBS News. I found that rather odd; either liberal news sources are staying away from this story or Right-Wing sources are doing everything they can to keep this story front-and-center in the public domain ahead of the election.

I will say this: If what's being reported turns out to be true - that someone high up between the State Dept, CIA, DoD or the White House gave the stand-down order - the President will have some 'plaining to do. Personally, I think he needs to hold a press conference and provide the public the unclassified version of what his investigation has revealed so far and, if necessary, let some heads roll!!!

For those interested, seems we got one of the men involved in the Benghazi terrorist attack. From CBS News:

An Egyptian security official says a man killed in a security ambush in a Cairo suburb is a Libyan national suspected of links to the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

The official says authorities identified the suspect on Thursday as 35-year-old Karim el-Azizi. The official says a large number of explosives were found in his apartment including 15 rocket-propelled grenades and 195 hand grenades.

The official says that when security forces cordoned off the area late Wednesday, the suspect detonated a bomb and was found dead in the apartment.

See mak2 post. that wasn't the point and you know it. the most colossal failure of intelligence and leadership in the last 50 years occured, yet any criticism of Bush is met with outrage by those of you on the right. Your hypocrisy is stunning.

Over exaggerate much? Going as far back as 1962 (50 years)...

...Vietnam

...Granada

...Blackhawk Down

...9/11 (the biggest intelligence failure since Pearl Harbor!)

...Benghazi

Though tragic, I'd say there have been other events that could easily bear the title of "worst intelligence failure". Still, point taken...

Patreus should be President, he's proven he has planet size balls. I mean I've never seen anyone throw a President under the bus.

Exactly, making a leap of speculation isn't the same as fact. And it bothers no one here that's there no hard evidence to support their opinion, they are just inferring it from something someone else said when that's not what he said at all.

...you are catching on to the right wing news cycle: imply the plausible; let it catch on with the gullible; saturate the market with the implication; increase your sphere of "influence" as more and more talk about it; lo' and behold, we have created the truth - right wing style.

Best explanation I have heard yet.

You can write him in. I am sure he will appreciate the vote.

FOX is using sources that were THERE, ON THE GROUND.

Some did survive you know.

What sources, who? I have read all the stories posted on Faux, I did not see a single creditable source. When you read a Fox story you have to really think about what they are saying. Sources on the ground could be a local market owner. I have not seen any real evidence and suspect if there was any the other news sources would be all over it. Right now it is just covered in the alternate world of the RW hysterical reallity.

Interesting. Though I made a general statement, I was specifically thinking of the OP, which was the Weekly Standard. Interesting that you felt the need to defend Fox News.

We shall see shan't we?

I've seen no sources named. They may have good reason not to be named.

Petraeus has made one public statement. I suspect he knows exactly what happened.

I look forward to his meeting with President-elect Romney.

You people still cling to the premise that the ONLY reason Bush went into Iraq was for WMDs. It was a lie then, and a lie now......but you'll believe it till your dying days. So don't preach to us about speculation as fact.

All the kitchen sink reasons together don't work; however, the one that won the day was wmds. That was the slam dunk, that we'd buy that one.

Still, none of that has anything to do with the WS' habit of making unsupported leaps. :coffeepap
