Obama Desperate Sexual Innuendo Ad [W:52]

When one signs up to be a right winger, is there a medical procedure that is mandatory which removes ones sense of humor?

I'm conservative and I thought it was hilarious. Mainly because it was disturbing. Sex jokes are fine, but that's a little low for the President of the United States. I don't think it was disgusting as in vile or gross, but disgusting that it completely lacked class of any sort. Even if it was funny, the President should never have to stoop that low unless kissing an ameoba's baby. I wouldn't go so far as to call it trashy, but definately not classy. And very desperate.

Private in the sense that decisions regarding sex are decided by the individual. Not some white haired sexually frustrated old dude from Nebraska.

Decisions regarding sex are decided by the individual? You sure about that?

Ummm....yeah...two consenting adults can do whatever they want....

Really? Then why is incest (two consenting adults) illegal everywhere in the US except Rhode Island? Why is prostitution (two consenting adults) illegal?

What point are you proving? I thought we were talking about the hypothetical consenting adults having the right to do whatever they want. Instead you have basically proved my point that there are limitation based on old prigs deciding what people can do with their bodies.

it is not a tweener girl but a 28 year old woman who is a celebrity to some extend talking about how 4 years ago it was her first time voting. It is not about a girl's first time with a man but about a woman's first time in the polling booth/voting.

Gosh, thanks for the heads-up. I had no idea who Lena Dunham was even though she was a South-by-Southwest indie film winner, and I'm certainly too dumb to have realized that the analogy between losing one's virginity and voting for the "right guy" actually wasn't an analogy. Thanks so much.

first of all there is no need to shout, i can hear you perfectly fine. I just disagree with you completely. Just because you obama haters want another stick to through/beat the democratic nominee with does not make it the truth.

This girl is clearly talking about voting, about voting issues, that people with dirty minds make it into something it is not is just a sad reflection on how disgustingly politicized the us presidential election truly is.
lmfao... Im not shouting... Its called caps lock... I use it at work a lot so it gets left on...

Still... You are so completely lost...

My saying that this video is an innuendo is not an attack... Its the accurate reflection of what the theme of the advertisement is... Comparing voting for the first time to the decision to have sex for the first time... Geared to young impressionable voters to make it seem the cool thing to do...

That's obama's only demographic... Young and impressionables... Everyone else is onto his bs...

I'm lol'ing. It's appropriate for its target audience. There is nothing offensive or desperate about it. Edgy, yes, but in a better way than "demon sheep" and "I'm not a witch". It's just a play on words.

I imagine it's available only on the net, not running on TV, which is more appropriate.

DISGUSTING: New Obama ad asks who would you rather do it with, Obama or Romney? » The Right Scoop -

"Talk about desperation. They’ve finally sunken to a new low trying to get the youth vote by comparing voting for the first time to having sex for the first time. “You’re first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You wanna do it with a great guy…”'

(sorry I am not sure how to imbed)

Excellent. Looks like Obama has outmaneuvered the rightwing noise machine again. They way to beat freaks like Romney and this noise machine is attack and attack and attack.

No wonder you're freaked out.

My only real issue with it is that it is something I'd more expect to see on College Humor or Break.com rather than as an actual, legitimate, campaign ad. I don't find it offensive or wrong....I just kind of find it kind of sad as an actual attempted campaign ad. It works better as a satirical type of thing then some actual "go out and vote", which is why it'd fit in perfectly at College Humor but not so much as something that would ever air as a commercial.

Another violation of forum etiquette is posting in ALL CAPS. This is considered shouting and is very rude, in addition to being hard on the eyes. Something may be in caps for emphasis (e.g. I did NOT want to go!), but no post should be entirely in all caps.

What is Forum Etiquette?

Another rule is to avoid typing in ALL CAPS or grossly enlarging script for emphasis, which is considered to be the equivalent of shouting or yelling.

Etiquette (technology) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Do Turn That Caps Lock Key Off. When you type a post in all capital letters you are going to annoy other forum users. Capital letters are viewed as shouting when communicating online, and its considered rude to do.

That towards caps lock writing, do with it what you see fit, just wanted to explain why I said there is no need to shout.

In that video, in no words did she describe a sexual act, if you just focus on the first few seconds on that video you can suppose that she is but when listening to the entire ad it is crystal clear that she is in no way speaking of sex but about how voting turns a young person from a boy/girl in to a man/woman. Being a responsible democratic (and I do not mean that in party affiliation but in the more general "democratic" way) person entails voting and in some part it is one of the things that sets apart children from adults, girls from women, boys from men. Turning 18 makes you able to vote, actually going out and voting is that which transcends people from young people to adults. That is how I felt about it, when I turned 18 I made sure I voted in the very next election that was coming up.

Maybe it would be wise to interest young kids for politics, democracy and elections a bit more by holding junior elections. In the Netherlands loads of kids get to vote in mock elections. They had polling booths in school, debates and even a nationally televised debate between the party leaders in the dutch "youth news show"

This time in the school elections over 117,000 kids took time to vote on the basis of among other the debates. Like in the pictures here above, explaining complex issues to age appropriate kids should be the norm in politics and life. In 2006 70% of people between the ages of 18 and 25 went out and voted. You have the enthuse the young voter and I think more should be done towards that and this video, although some people are foaming at the mouth about it (not you, I am not saying or implying that), is maybe a something that will make young people at least think about politics and that it is important for their future too to go and and vote (no matter whether that is for Obama or Romney).

I don't have a problem with the ad...I think it's actually quite clever.

I AM disappointed that Obama's campaign has determined that this is a good way to appeal to youngsters. On the one hand, young rational thinkers should be offended by this ad. On the other hand, if this ad DOES appeal to youngsters, it doesn't have much good to say about young people's intelligence.

Actually it's a copy of one of Vladimir Putin's ads from the recent Russian election. Putin became a big Obama fan after BO whispered to Medvedev to tell Vlad to wait until after the election when BO would make his dreams come true. Maybe the Kremlin's now running Obama's campaign.

That video could've been so much funnier. Next time they want an innuendo laden ad, they need to call me.

Know who else used this kind of "dispicable" innuendo? Oh no!

The Washington Post reported on Nov. 1, 1980, on Reagan’s outreach to blue-collar voters:

What Reagan was trying to do in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio was to harvest usually Democratic blue-collar votes — the consistent target of his personal campaigning in the Great Lakes states. Whenever he is near voters who might possibly be Democrats, Reagan likes to remind them that he came from that side of the political tracks.

On Thursday night, at a working class bar in Bayonne, N.J., Reagan said, “I know what it’s like to pull the Republican lever for the first time, because I used to be a Democrat myself, and I can tell you it only hurts for a minute and then it feels just great.”

LOL...yes Spud! I'm sure you could've improved on it. :)

LMFAO that you went through that much work to research all caps... awww did being yelled at huwt yur feewings?

Again, I wasn't shouting, I was composing it from work, where I need to keep the CAPSLOCK button on in order to enter data into a unix emulator... When you submit it, it usually converts the all caps text as lower case... in that post it might not have since it there was the one line that wasn't...

Okay... when she starts off with on your first time, you want it to be someone beautiful... how is that anything to do with voting?

Then, when she clearly says "before I did it I was a girl, but now I'm a woman"... you're so big on what's "considered" to be shouting on-line... what's the one thing that's almost universally accepted as the right of passage to adulthood? Sexuality... That's why children's names are neutral on most languages, and gender isn't assigned until adulthood...

Then... take a look at who the person who made the ad is...

So, while you might "disagree" that this was the theme of the video, you're clearly wrong... it was the very intention of the makers of the ad...

True -- very Reaganesque.

Know who else used this kind of "dispicable" innuendo? Oh no!

That's hardly the same thing... plus, making a joke at a working class bar among the company of adults, is vastly different from making a 1 minute campaign ad that's circulated across all audiences over the net... and using a celeb sex symbol to do it...
