Colin Powell endorses Obama for second term

Colin Powell said:
"I'm not quite sure which Governor Romney we'd be getting with respect to foreign policy," Powell said, calling Romney's foreign policy "a moving target."

this is one of my concerns, as well.

Oh I don't know about the dems 'inventing' political correctness... thinking blinders are involved.

From tough on communism even if thousands of poorer kids are sacrificed in sketchy countries around the world to simple must wear Old Glory on your lapel or you are not a real patriot, 'conservatives' practice their own version of PC policies.

Carry on.

Powell was always a Democrat and the major reason for Gulf War 2 in his demanding Gulf War 1 be ended prior to killing Sadam Hussein.

who cares what powell says? he is a non-player who has proven himself to be nothing but a racist shill.

I do. Good call Colin Powell.

Colin Powell is still attempting to be relevant?

Colin Powell was an excellent general and accomplished diplomat, whether or not you agree with his political opinions you should respect the man.

Look at all that instant Powell hate from people who would be eight feet up his ass baking Powell cookies had he endorsed Romney. Partisans are so funny.

The Republcans can take glitter queen Trump and I will take the Four Star Army General Powell.
Sounds fair.

Nice try but I was never a Powell fan. He lied to the UN, or did you forget that? I always thought he was overrated.

Racist? Really? That's a new one. I've not posted here very often but I find it out of the ordinary that you would write such a straw man reply. Out of curiosity I wonder how you would feel if he had endorsed Romney? I get the feeling you wouldn't be calling him a racist nor saying "who cares."

no. he wasn't either. He was just a man who wanted war.

Did he lie or was he set up to take the fall? I believe the latter. When someone like Joe Lieberman endorsed McCain did you welcome it as a Conservative or dismiss it as "I was never a fan."

IMHO the small percentage of moderates who are undecided are the most likely to be swayed by Powell's endorsement. Partisans like me and you would not be but that's not the meaning of his endorsement if you're analyzing it politically.

I couldn't stand Lieberman. His endorsement did McCain more harm than good. I said that publicly over and over.

At the bush admin's behest he did. He went out there with Rumsfeld's cartoons and crack vile of fake anthrax. I've not been a Powell fan since I learned how he white-washed the My Lai Massacre. Sorry, not buying Republicans saying, "Oh but I didn't like Powell all along". Not very believeable at all.

So you were in the room when Bush told him to lie? Neat. I hope you captured that on video. I'd like to see it.

Bush may have well ruined Powell's career, but I still like him. I like Condi Rice too, and while I greatly disliked Rumsfeld and Gates, I felt they were both competant. Really the Bush administration had lots of talent that was tainted by his lack of popularity...even if he did have some no talent flakes like Gonzales, Cheney, and Brown, I say give credit where it is due.

Not being a member of the democrats or republicans, I can afford to be objective from time to time.

Rumsfeld reportedly tried to stop OIF behind the scenes and tried to do what he could to help in spite of his opposition to the war, and while he likely did not help much as an old man in a suit, on 9/11 he made the effort to go out and try to help those victims at the Pentagon. I have tremendous respect for Rumsfeld over most of the DC cake-eaters.

powell would never endorse a white candidate against a black candidate, he is the ultimate racist.

Are there any cards in your deck that aren't race cards?

Fair enough, for what its worth, the position of defense Secretary (or treasury) usually turns me off to a politician, for every good thing they do, for all the good intentions such positions have so many negative actions that it is hard many times to be fair to them, as negatives seem more powerful than positives.

Sometimes I worry about the left, not being able to appreciate good ideas because they come from the other side (I am sure the right is guilty to, but I am not on the right). The "known/unknown" speech Rumsfeld gave, was actually quite an important concept, especially as it relates to decision making but all anyone wanted to do was criticise his syntax rather than pay attention to the ideas.

And you complain that us dems play the race card too much.
