Draw your own conclusions.

Conclusion: Republicans want to bring back slavery.

;)

Thank goodness the Republican party under president Lincoln helped stopped slavery.

i don't understand what you want to conclude from this picture, you do realize that much of the south voted Democrat up until the 60s-70s right?

And then the Civil Rights Movement and the Civil Rights Act happened.

I'm not judging anyone as being right or wrong. The Civil War was about a lot more than slavery. There are two different cultures, alive and well, within the one United States. It's an interesting way to look at today's political landscape.

Has it changed the last 3 times you posted it? I haven't been around that long.

What I conclude is that the titles have swapped around over the years, but the people themselves ... not so much.

The Republicans and Democrats are not the same parties they were. Lincoln's party were the radicals of their time, while Democrats were much more conservative. It's important to note that in the 50s/60s, both parties were pretty much status quo on race issues, or up until the Civil Rights laws of the mid-60s anyway.

:3oops: Damn!! - our secret is out. Clever ol' Joe was the first to figure it out with the 'put YA'LL back in chaaaiiiinnnnnnnnns."

Thought we could finagle our way out of that one, but dang, here you come in as super sleuth and show the GRAPHIC we have been trying to keep under wraps for 150 years.

Well, back to square one now. Maybe by 2160 we will be able to slip this one by the sleuths.

I agree this shows a fundamental lack of understanding of US history.

1845-1870's Democrats were the party of slavery, big business, against social eguality and National interference in "States Rights'
Republicans (Lincoln) were the party against slavery, for environmental issues, social equalty and Union

1870's - Present - Republcans in the Grant adminstration moved into bed with big business, abandoned the blacks, promoted social conservatism and class.
Democrats filled the void and took the opposite position.

Just like everything else political poles change.

Exactly. Republicans came on the scene and were the radical progressives... pushing for massive change against the more conservative Dems and Whigs. The whigs got decimated by the Repub uprising and the Dems fractured into two parties under the same tent. Southern Dixiecrats that simply REFUSED to vote republican because of Lincoln and the Northern Dems. As time went by and the civil rights movement happened the northern Dems jumped on it, the Dixiecrats went against it and when it was to pass, the dixiecrat defection to the GOP began and now the Solid South is now solidly Republican.

Yes, the Civil War was about much more than slavery, and even today there are different economic drivers. I wouldn't go so far as to say that there are two distinct, disparate cultures. But historically, our nation has been a "melting pot" of cultures, and that's still true today. I don't think it's all either "blue" or "red," but I think I see your point.

The Democrat party has not changed since their KKK days. The democrats changed their tactics, and brought back slavery in the form of welfare and their own party.
