With only about three weeks left in the campaign we are in what might be called the, 'home stretch.'

From now until Nov. 6th we may expect to see some unusual tactics by one campaign or the other to try to assure their side will win the election.

More likely, we will see the campaign that's more desperate try something drastic.
And let's face it, it's most likely the campaign to do this will be the Obama campaign.

One tactic hypothesized by many is a 'Wag the Dog' scenario where Obama launches a military operation, most likely against Libya.

But that's not the only rumor being circulated.

Another is that Obama will make marijuana legal.

Would you vote for a candidate who tries throwing a desperate 'Hail Mary' pass in order to win the election?

Candidly, I would applaud the strike against Libya or a change in pot laws but STILL vote for Romney.

What are your thoughts?

I don't pay much attention to political rhetoric (ads), however I will tell you that if Obama does win reelection he will be immediately impeached over Libya.

Hillary is already using herself as a martyr for Obama and the progressive cause in an attempt to protect Obamy.... The poo-poo will hit the fan over Libya - one way or another. Lets not forget fast and furious to boot.

Democrats are in deep crap if the senate is taken by republicans - It will be Watergate x10.

I think you succeeded in posting your message "I will vote for Romney".....I think if you truly wanted to discuss election tactics in the home stretch it would have included tactics and rumors from both sides.

Those are my thoughts.

The Republican spin, "incompetency in the White House, Obama's fault".. Democrat spin, "information wouldn't have made it to the white house." Who knows which spin is correct, but it definitely could turn into a huge scandal if Republicans take the Senate

Unless he were to be striking an al Queda camp in Libya, I have no idea what Wag the Dog thing that could be imagined. Since it took him a year almost the greenlight the raid on Bin Laden, I am skeptical that he would capriciously order an air strike. About the only October surprise I can think of that might derail Romney for good at this point would be if it were proven conclusively by documents people could see that he had millions in untaxed money hidden offshore or that he took advantage of the amnesty the IRS offered folks like that to domesticate their offshore money and pay taxes to avoid penalties and/or prosecution for evasion.

The democrats will not lose the Senate unless the GOP can get some DINO's to flip or to become independents and caucus with them regardless of who wins the Presidency.

This isn't a well thought out conspiricy theory. Obama has no reason to attack Libya. They are cooperating with us. Obama can't make marijuana legal.
I think Romney and Ryan are the ones with the least desirable position. They have shown desperation many times and will do it again.

I want to see Obamy removed from office, however I do not believe people understand how important the senate race actually is. I wouldn't call myself a republican, I'm a libertarian, but at the same time I realize how fascist progressives are given their actions, and knowing how government works - I believe republicans capturing the senate will close Obama's "agenda."

I suppose what I'm trying to say is : If Obama does win and the senate goes to the republicans - Obama is in handcuffs - not only that but in deep sh*t....

Republicans in the Senate will definitely pursue it. The latest polls I've seen show the Republican's controlling the Senate. Only one showed Democrats.

He has no reason to attack Libya?

Sure, lets let our position be known that we won't protect US citizens abroad, even US diplomatic officials?

I don't see either of those scenarios as particularly likely. What'll probably happen is just more of the same. Lots of disingenuous advertising and rhetoric filled speeches.

Republicans in the Senate will definitely pursue it. The latest polls I've seen show the Republican's controlling the Senate. Only one showed Democrats.

What polls are those? Even as Romney has gained, polls have showed Senate Democrats maintaining their leads. Dems are favored to take over Maine and Massachusetts while Republicans are favored in North Dakota, Nebraska, and Montana. Democrats have at least small leads in all the other races.

Libya didn't attack our embassy though. What would be the point of attacking them.

Libya didn't attack our people. Terrorists did that. Lbya has posted rewards for the capture of those who were responsible and they lost people in the attack as well. The people Libya lost were trying to protect our people.

All the "polls" I have seen have the general/popular vote locked in a tie... Guess what? some states like California or potentially Illinois (among others) are potentially overwhelmingly democrat - that means a ton of "swing states" are potentially Romney.... Remember this isn't a direct democracy - it's a democratic republic, hence the Electoral College.

I was talking about the Senate races, I don't know why you brought up the electoral college. And I was using state polls which have nothing to do with Illinois or California.

I've never understood why campaigns become so dirty. When generally the common voter tends to appeal more to the candidate that is more courteous but yet still has substance to his views.

Yeah, that's what I've seen @ RCP and other places. Looks like Dems w/h 54-55 or so Senate seats.

Oh yeah I forgot it was a group of marauders that don't share the same values as their government????????????

Don't even play the "it's only a few lunatics" card with me. Benghazi was a terrorist attack and progressives are blaming it on a movie. I could care less what the reason was, symbolic or not...

If the Libyans are our friends then they would be taking care of business.

I have actually been pleasantly surprised by the way Libya has handled itself in the wake of the attacks compared to some of the other countries in the area like Egypt. In any case there is no reason to start a war with Libya.

Polls are useless.....

I'm 32 and have never been part of a poll (and I have been voting since 18) - actually and ironically I actually did political polls - they suck - they don't tell you anything.

They are usually right and are mathematically sound.

Presently surprised?

No one has done anything but talk...

We could destroy Libya into glass in a matter of seconds - the US has the technology to destroy these savages, yet we don't do it? Any military on earth besides those in North America would love to use everything they have to kill every US citizen possible, yet we're supposed to play "nice" - if they had the capabilities they would kill us all without hesitation.

Since Gaddafi fell, Libya has been by far the most pro-American state in the Middle East outside of Israel. A large majority of them support us. Attacking Libya wouldn't even have anything in it for the United States in it, except revenge. I would not support the needless killing of Libyan civilians, the destruction of the only currently pro-American country in the Middle East, and the good chance of having it lead to even more American resentment and American deaths.
