Anyone voting for Gary Johnson or Jill Stein?

Folks act like the vote for third parties is somehow going to matter if another million or so folks cast that direction. We are in a rigged pseudo electoral system. As long as states cast their votes as winner take all, we have problems. I would love to see third party taken seriously, of course! Especially the only sane party; libertarians.

The only two ways to fix this asinine system. Get rid of the winner take all and preferably the entire electoral college BS. The other option is for media and pacs and everyone else to stop ignoring the third parties.

Unfortunately, neither is very likely :(

Still I would love to see a large vote for third parties to at least get a little attention.

Personally, what I would like to do is have our Senators elected in a two-round voting system while our Representatives are chosen statewide via a proportional party system.

That way, we can also get rid of this gerrymandering bull****.

I've heard similar ideas and see real merit. However, there is an argument to be made that the office of POTUS, which holds so much power over the country, should always be a highest vote victory.

On state/congressional ballots, I'd totally be down for looking into proportional and other forms of voting.

I've been considering voting for Gary Johnson. I'm under no illusions that it will change anything, but I may do so as a token protest against how badly our current choices suck.

I don't know Johnson, and he wasn't my choice to beat Obama. Neither was Romney.

Well, I would prefer a two-round ballot system for President as well.

But here's what we have to remember, folks.

What good is a President from a 3rd party when Congress is nothing but Democrats or Republicans?

If the President has no party support in Congress, he's pretty limited in what he can do.

That's what pisses me off about all this focus on 3rd parties in Presidential elections - we always forget 3rd parties in Congress. And that's just as important a goal.

I've actually said the same thing a few times. You are absolutely right. I would still love to see Johnson in the seat, but I would be ecstatic to see congress and senate with an amount of libertarians and greens representing their portion of the population.

Jill Stein's platform addresses much of this:
Fair Districting Act
End partisan gerrymandering
Fair Districting Act- aGREATER.US
No Political Party Shall Be Privileged
No Political Party Shall Be Privileged- aGREATER.US
Ban Single Mark Ballots!
... Plurality voting suffers from major flaws, including the risk of vote splitting. To avoid this risk, voters focus on only two dominant candidates and ignore other candidates they prefer.

As replacements for plurality voting, this declaration recommends four significantly fairer election methods: Approval voting, most of the Condorcet methods, Majority Judgment, and Range voting. These methods all replace plurality voting's primitive single-mark ballot with improved ballots that collect more information. ...

No, single-member districts are absurd to me. No matter how you draw a district, problems will always occur and misrepresentation will happen.

It would be better to just get rid of single-member districts altogether and instead use House seats to represent statewide proportional representation of political parties.

No- in 2012_ I'm voting for the Winner, maybe in 2016- IF, gary Johnson Is a candidate then', with more Electability' than Now.

Got it. You won't vote for Johnson because you believe that everyone else is like you and won't vote for Johnson because not enough people are voting for Johnson. Brilliant.

You said you weren't voting for him until you thought a lot of people would vote for him. That's OK, zhak, not eveyone can lead. Some people are followers. Nothing wrong with being timid.

Guys... Im really asking for everyone here to reconsider wasting their vote and this pivotal time in Obama's squandering of liberties with Obamacare and much more, Please really consider voting to Mitt... he is our only choice at this time in history... ask youself the real truth... Obama gets 4 more years and we are all screwed.. we need Mitt, we all do.. at this time he is our only hope...

do the right thing and please give that valuable vote to Mitt instead of wasting it on Gary or Jill and helping Obama to destroy the USA..

Shocking that you didn't throw in a mention of Odinga.

There is no "wasted vote" if you're voting with your heart and with total honesty.
Romney is no different than Obama. They're both the same. Obama is no different than Bush was.

Those of us who vote for alternative choices do so because we actually want to make a difference.

Voting for a Rep or a Dem is just following the insanity route.
Repeating the same thing over and over and over and expecting a different result.
