We know President Obama's plan for the public (government) sector. It is the same as it was in 2008: obtain more money for government by elimination of the Bush tax cuts, which he didn't do.

But what is Obama's jobs & economy plan? "Romney is a liar!" isn't really a plan.

What is Obama's plan to support reducing unemployment and improving the overall economy?

Smiling the recession away?

Obama has been working on getting his plan passed for years. I guess you haven't noticed. The Bush tax cuts were supposed to be temporary. Obama wants to eliminate the Bush tax cuts for all income over 250K. He has already cut spending in many areas, and ending the Iraq war will be a big savings. We don't need to spend more on the military as Romney is planning because we just ended on war. Obama wants to rebuild the Infrastructure, which will create jobs. Obama has already been creating jobs in the privit sector, and not he wants to add more teachers, firemen, and police where many republicans have cut public sector jobs and proposed to cut more.

Since Obama vowed to and could have ended the Bush tax cuts in his first campaign and first term - and then did exactly the opposite - I see every reason to not believe him, but for argument sake I'll accept that is Obama's stated plan also for his second term.

But that's what I mean. In your message, there is no overall plan at all. Mostly it is about how to obtain more money for government - and then more government paid jobs (teachers/firemen/police). Other than the abstract "rebuild the infrastructure" with no hint at how, your message indicates what I see about Obama - his singular concerns are 100% only about the wealth and employment security of the government.

While more GOOD teachers probably is a good thing, we don't need 28,000,000 more teachers. I don't think there is a shortage of cops and firefighters - but more importantly cops and firefighters are city, county and state matters - unless you are claiming that 1,600,000 people in the Department of Homeland Security isn't enough and there should be 10,000,000 more federal Homeland Security cops, FBI agents and IRS agents.

"Romney's plan?" is being debated on other threads. I seriously am asking what is Obama's grand plan FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR. I, everyone, knows all he wants more for the government and to increase taxes to get it.

I honestly see his plan as to take as much as possible from the rich then complain when they leave and take jobs with them. Eventually I think his plan is for country to all be poor and following the life as outlined by the government giving the government here full control because they know whats best for us.

It is amazing.

All the Democrat partisans and not ONE can even summarily state Obama's plans for jobs and the economy in the private sector. Its all ONLY about more money and jobs for government - taking it from the private sector.

What is Obama's plan to support reducing unemployment and improving the overall economy?

THE AMERICAN JOBS ACT (Released September 2011)

  • Extending 100% expensing into 2012: This continues an effective incentive for new investment.
  • Reforms and regulatory reductions to help entrepreneurs and small businesses access capital.

2. Putting Workers Back on the Job While Rebuilding and Modernizing America

  • A “Returning Heroes” hiring tax credit for veterans: This provides tax credits from $5,600 to $9,600 to encourage the hiring of unemployed veterans.
  • Preventing up to 280,000 teacher layoffs, while keeping cops and firefighters on the job.
  • Modernizing at least 35,000 public schools across the country...
  • Immediate investments in infrastructure...putting hundreds of thousands of workers back on the job.
  • A New “Project Rebuild”, which will put people to work rehabilitating homes, businesses and communities.
  • Expanding access to high-speed wireless as part of a plan for freeing up the nation’s spectrum.

3. Pathways Back to Work for Americans Looking for Jobs.

  • ...As part of an extension of unemployment insurance to prevent 5 million Americans looking for work from losing their benefits, the President’s plan includes innovative work-based reforms to prevent layoffs and give states greater flexibility to use UI funds to best support job-seekers, including:
  • Work-Sharing: UI for workers whose employers choose work-sharing over layoffs.
  • A new “Bridge to Work” program: The plan builds on and improves innovative state programs where those displacedtake temporary, voluntary work or pursue on-the-job training.
  • Innovative entrepreneurship and wage insurance programs: States will also be empowered to implement wage insurance to help reemploy older workers and programs that make it easier for unemployed workers to start their own businesses.
  • A $4,000 tax credit to employers for hiring long-term unemployed workers.
  • Prohibiting employers from discriminating against unemployed workers when hiring.
  • Expanding job opportunities for low-income youth and adults through a fund for successful approaches for subsidized employment, innovative training programs and summer/year-round jobs for youth.

4. Tax Relief for Every American Worker and Family

  • Cutting payroll taxes in half for 160 million workers next year..
  • Allowing more Americans to refinance their mortgages at today’s near 4 percent interest rates, which can put more than $2,000 a year in a family’s pocket.

5. Fully Paid for as Part of the President’s Long-Term Deficit Reduction Plan.To ensure that the American Jobs Act is fully paid for, the President will call on the Joint Committee to come up with additional deficit reduction necessary to pay for the Act and still meet its deficit target...
