Is it that the President is so casual? That he's on the phone? This was posted on Facebook by a Marine friend . . . Saying, "Oh, hell no." Is it really that bad?

Edit: It occurs to me this isn't the right forum. I'm sorry. And, of course, I can't move it now . . .

...or he could be getting briefed on TS military intelligence.

This goes in the non-issue pile.

One of the guys I work with is a retired Lt Col JAG officer who had done his share of Honor guard details etc. He said one of the reasons why the military tended to respect Bush far more than Obama is that Bush not only knew how to properly salute enlisted and officers he also knew enough to salute a MoH recipient first-something Clinton and Obama didn't quite figure out

not worse than holding a baseball stick while on the phone .

Hey stop complaining, he could have stepped out scratching his ass.

Obama has always been too casual IMO. In a time of great economic turmoil, being seen without a tie sends the visual message that he is not working on solutions IMO. It is the same as Carter and his sweaters--it put people off.

yes, by all means, the president should break off his presidential call to give a proper salute! has he no sense of priority? return salute > matters of state [/s]

I disagree. I actually prefer a casual politician. It makes them seem more relatable and cool under pressure. :D

I guess Bush spent a lot of time practicing his salute when he was AWOL from the National Guard.

Lol.... what a ridiculous attempt at partisanship. What next? Obama has breakfast while troops are in Afghanistan? Oh noez! Disrespect! Disrespect!

Damn right it's that bad. Saluting is a priveledge. Rendering a hand salute, while talking on the phone is nothing less than a smack in the face to those two Marines.

It's like when the idiot took his first ride on Marine 1, he shook hands with the Marine gaurd.

That kind of Lie got Dan Rather of CBS fired.

yep, GOP pressured cbs into that firing
so tell me why it is more important for Obama to end his call to make a snappy return salute instead of remaining on the call tending to national business

Did Obama learn to salute when he was a tike in Kenya?

It's called, "military courtesy". Properly executing a hand salute to his men would be setting a good example. Obama is their commander in chief after all and like all leaders, should lead by example.

After saluting the guard he then shakes his hand and this has got you all up in a frenzy?

You people are worst than a room full of old women with nothing to do than gossip about some neighbor.

I did not vote for Bush but I still admired him for the time he did a bump chest with the graduating cadet. I know , I know that you aren't suppose to do that but if you don't like it then go shove your head down a toilet. I thought it was A O K.

You notice he hasn't done it since? Someone tightened his ass up on that. :rofl

I guess holding a dog while salutig is better than holding a cell phone?

Maybe that "someone" needs his fricking head shoved down a toilet with my boot up his ass. How's that?

Dude...I don't care how badass you think you are, you won't be doing those things to someone who is capable of correcting the President in matters of protocol. LOL!!

Right................? Bush was too stupid to even count his own fingers. Please.......without the proper context here, nobody knows, who Obama was on the phone with. I know a guy too, I was told Bush's dad paid for his grades and couldn't even pass algebra in high school. Ironic!

Looks like Obama doesn't agree with you, since the clown doesn't do stupid **** like that anymore.
