Here is what a group undecided voters, half democrats and half republicans, said after the debate last night:

Based on the Luntz focus group, what happened last night was pretty much what I predicted would happen last week:

"...the American people, especially independents and the undecided, will learn a few things (about Romney) that they didn't really know or had forgotten based on the skewed media coverage of the campaign."

I said that they would discover that Romney was a decent man who was

"intelligent, knowledgeable and are far more qualified to bring the American economy back to life, than Obama could ever dream of being.

It will be one man with a bunch of tired promises and platitudes, versus one with the know how and a track record of success."

I agree that the STRONGEST point Romney made is that he could get things done in Mass. with an 87% Democrat legislature. Obama has never been able to assemble any bi-partisan agreement on anything.

Independents, by definition, do NOT care about partisan hackery. They are sick of it and see Washington as crippled as incapable of doing anything.

Independents and women will decide this election. I think Romney did well with independents, but don't know how independent women see it now.

I look to my wife for that answer of how independent women would think so far, largely because she was a Hillary supporter, and this time was leaning Romney begrudgingly...She said it was a far better performance from Romney than she expected, and now feels better about casting her vote for him...She also noted that Obama looked weak, and frustrated during the debate, and didn't have much to offer other than tired campaign platitudes, and false claims with no substance.

1 down, 2 to go....Ryan ought to wipe the floor with Biden next week.

You know that eventually, the whole "war on women" narritive is going to come up. I just hope Romney is able to shoot it down the way he shot down Obama's "$5 trillion" comments.

Obama was clenching his jaw so tight at times during the debate, I thought his teeth were going to explode. There were also a few moments where he was shooting daggers of hatred at Romney and begging the moderator to to bail him out with pleading looks on his face

Karma is a *&^%$

romney won because

1) He lied about his true intentions
2) Obama failed to call him out on his lies

But that's exactly what I predicted. . .

When the economy is the defining issue, GOP politicians can only win when they lie to their lower-middle-class base.

How about you read a few of the "fact checks" out there, rather than spouting partisan opinion. With only a few exceptions, everything both candidates said had a measure of truth in them.

So to say that in effect the people were duped last night, just doesn't hold much water.

The polling of "independents" was incredibly selective by FOX.

Really, it should be titled "polling independent middle class older white people."

I tell you what... How about you find black voters that aren't already fully committed to voting to reelect Obama. They are the only voter block that is totally decided, and that's why there weren't any in the Luntz focus group.

And btw, they were undecided voters, not Independents.

There are few politicians I more despise than Biden - and not for any partisan reasons. For way back years and years ago for his comments on the Waco Branch Dravidian comments.

Don't count your chickens on Ryan wiping the floor with Biden too quickly. Biden is skilled at talking in almost childish simplistic terms that the least knowledgeable salt-of-the-earth types can understand and be persuaded by. It may be that Ryan talks way over Biden's head, but Biden talks way under Ryan's head. When it comes to blue collar worker-types and very, very old folks, Biden talks a good populist game.

I was more thinking about Hispanics and Asian decendency than African-American. Its not all black and white. Didn't see many young voters either. White Republicans and adding 100% of white indendents combined aren't enough to win the presidency anymore.

This election will be decided by independent Hispanics and independent women, with independent "Asians" deciding it if the election decided by a hair. The critical group is women voters, who tend to be less partisan loyal and more likely to be single issue voters.

OMG... What universe do you live in?

The non-Limbaugh universe (i. e. reality), where the only way for any GOP pol to win on economic issues is to lie.

So, without question, ryan will be forced to lie during the debates. Lying worked for romney, but it won't work against tell-the-truth-even-if-it-kills-you Biden.

 is what will happen when biden calls ryan a "kid" when it comes to Medicare.

Who cares about the VP debate? Seriously, it's pointless! "Gentlemen, which of you is better at waiting for your boss to die?" "Who is a better President of the Senate?"

You're probably right, but really? Unless Adm. Stockdale makes a cameo, color me uninterested.

I don't think there is any difference.

They can make a difference, but only due to each being a spokesperson for their presidential candidate.

Well, sure, black voters are incapable of thinking for themselves....they'll all vote Obama because they're on welfare.

No racism here, it's all on the evil Left!

John Kerry beat President Bush in his first debate as well, so winning debates is not a predictor on who will win the election.

Minorities only represent about 1 in 4 voters. Hispanics represent a little less than 10%, and the same goes for black voters, with all other minorities making up the rest. As for young voters, in 2010 only 12% of voters were under the age of 30.

Racism? We are talking about facts.

I find it strange that nobody who supports Obama has commented on the focus group?
