Who won the debate? Just ask the undecided voters

A major factor for Bush was the VP debates. A lot of older conservatives voted for Bush because of Cheney. He had political weight, gravitas.

Bush had a far better first four years-even with 9-11 than Obama has had and Kerry was a moron compared to Romney

i would disagree. Considering that GWB inherited a surplus and Obama inherited the worst economic conditions since the great depression...I think you are more than a little off.

Bush was saddled with a dot com bubble that was bursting. and obama has done a lot to make things worse

things were pretty crappy in 1979-1981

I agree that the STRONGEST point Romney made is that he could get things done in Mass. with an 87% Democrat legislature. Obama has never been able to assemble any bi-partisan agreement on anything.
The sad fact is that neither of these candidates is going to be able to assemble any bi-partisan agreement on anything. If the obstruct and distort strategy of Republicans these past 4 years pays off by winning them the White House, Democrats will play the same game next term. I think Romney will try to work with both sides, but it doesn't really matter at the end of the day if the parties just want to play politics. Maybe Romney will do a better job fighting against hyper-partisanship than Obama, but I doubt it.

LOL....ok Mr. Prophet, Seer and Revealator

I predicted last nights debate, not because I'm a profit, but because it was clear which man had the advantage... That advantage won't change for the second or third debate either.

Romney just blew Obama out in terms of passion and knowledge. I figured Obama would be bad (you know, with hiding behind teleprompters and soft media outlets), but he was disappointing and terrible.

And people say Romney was better prepared and that Obama has an actual job as the current President. I guess Obama was too busy meeting with Jay-Z and Beyonce to prepare for this. Obama is going to have another thing coming to him when they debate foreign policy.

As far as the VP debate, I feel for Biden. That guy is just so slow. Paul Ryan is going to have a field day come next Thursday.

Not to mention Bush had a MUCH stronger Economy going for him in 2004

Here is what a group undecided voters, half democrats and half republicans, said after the debate last night:

A conservative who condemns the inability "to make politically neutral media observations" gives us a video.

This is a video of a "fair and balanced" FOX News "focus group" that attacks Obama. They call in Hannity and he asks if the debate had "negated [Obama's] false narrative" and if it gave them the "sense that Obama cannot run on his record because we have fewer Americans working 6 trillion in debt and 49 million Americans on food stamps". Nobody in the "focus group" disagrees with, questions or challenges him. The end.

Does anybody else see something wrong with this picture? :sarcasticclap

Yes I do... It doesn't fit with your "socialist" narritive, therefore it must be attacked.

But Bush bounced back in the second debate... Something I don't think is very likely with Obama.
Why not? Perhaps Obama may get Romney to explain his 20% revenue neutral tax cut.

Obama was clenching his jaw so tight at times during the debate, I thought his teeth were going to explode. There were also a few moments where he was shooting daggers of hatred at Romney and begging the moderator to to bail him out with pleading looks on his face

Karma is a *&^%$

I unfortunately didn't watch the debate on angel dust, so everything appeared normal to me. It sounds like it was a hoot, though.

The people (Hollywood, Pop Culture, The Main Stream Media, Academia) who lied, propagandized, and manipulated the public in 2008 to get Obama elected are the ones who really need to be stopped.Any Political Party can keep trotting out false prophets every 4 years and try to run a Popularity Contest, it's the people who hold all the keys to the doors of public perception who need to be held accountable if it's ever going to stop. Elections have REAL consequences. 6 trillion borrowed/printed/wasted in 4 years, a downgraded Economy,a Real Unemployment Rate of 19% with an African American Unemployment rate of 14.5% isn't the Hope and Change we were promised 4 years ago. Demagogues can only get elected by fooling you once if you allow them.

Maybe... Then maybe Romney can confront the president on the unemployment rate, lack of jobs, welfare, food stamps, the deficit he promisd to cut, Fast and furious, the Libyan Consulate attacks, his immigration amnesty program, troop deaths in Afghanistan, snubbing Israel, his promise to Putin, etc....

Not true at all. The incumbent hasn't done what he promised and the economy's not in the shape it should be.

But this is because he's a blue dog. We need an egalitarian government controlled by the people. Single payer health care. Better public schools. Legalization of marijuana. Military cuts. Progressive taxation. Self sufficient communities(energy wise). Collectivization and limited government intervention for corporations.

Obama hasn't fixed the country because he too far to the center, not because he's a radical. ;)

And the ignorant one liner of an attack on my views doesn't really help your case.

I tell you what... How about you find black voters that aren't already fully committed to voting to reelect Obama. They are the only voter block that is totally decided, and that's why there weren't any in the Luntz focus group.

And btw, they were undecided voters, not Independents.

Let me ask you an honest question and hopefully you'll give an honest answer. Given how strongly you are opposed to Obama, do you really have any respect for the intelligence or political savvy of someone who is "undecided" at this point?

I'm really looking forward to the Veep debate. Ryan knows his stuff.

Welcome to DP.

Agreed. And thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to debating and keeping up with this election (and hopefully many more to come).

Well, sure, black voters are incapable of thinking for themselves....they'll all vote Obama because they're on welfare.

No racism here, it's all on the evil Left!

Moderate????? hardly. Politically moderate means middle of the road, you are driving on the wrong side and in the ditch.

So are you in the middle or the right???

And that is just stereotype. Not all blacks are voting for Obama. Plus there are plenty of hispanics and whites who are living off food stamps/welfare that support Obama cause of it.

Don't forget skipping out on gas prices, cost of tuition, foreign policy briefings, not meeting with the Israeli President, lieing about those attacks killing those 4 Americans, etc.

I have been watching presidential debates since Nixon VS Kennedy and I can tell you that last night was the clearest victory for Romney in all of them. I said in another thread that if this was a prize fight they would have stopped it.

So exactly how many presidential debates was Romney in before last night? I was under the impression that was his first.

Sarcasm is lost on you people.

Obama the debater: Making Jimmy Carter look awesome

Party like it’s 1980!

Bewildered and lost without his teleprompter, President Obama flailed all around the debate stage last night. He was stuttering, nervous and petulant. It was like he had been called in front of the principal after goofing around for four years and blowing off all his homework.

Not since Jimmy Carter faced Ronald Reagan has the U.S. presidency been so embarrassingly represented in public. Actually, that’s an insult to Jimmy Carter.

The split screen was most devastating. Mitt Romney spoke forthrightly, with carefully studied facts and details at the ready. He looked right at the president and accused him of being miles out of his depth.

Mr. Obama? His eyes were glued to his lectern, looking guilty and angry and impatient with all the vagaries of Democracy. This debate was seriously chafing him...
