This article sums up how I feel and explains why I'm voting for Gary Johnson. This article is from the "left leaning" Atlantic.

Why I Refuse to Vote for Barack Obama - Conor Friedersdorf - The Atlantic
Tell certain liberals and progressives that you can't bring yourself to vote for a candidate who opposes gay rights, or who doesn't believe in Darwinian evolution, and they'll nod along. Say that you'd never vote for a politician caught using the 'n'-word, even if you agreed with him on more policy issues than his opponent, and the vast majority of left-leaning Americans would understand. But these same people cannot conceive of how anyone can discern Mitt Romney's flaws, which I've chronicled in the course of the campaign, and still not vote for Obama.

It looks to me like our only choice is Johnson.

Wait a minute. You mean to tell me Obama isn't a Muslim Kenyan Marxist communist fascist bent on controlling every aspect of our lives but simultaneously somehow also is a whiny pansy liberal who wont stand up to anyone? I'm shocked. Shocked I say. I mean, it sounds to me like you're suggesting Obama is just a center-left corporatist not substantially different than any president in the last several decades.

That's just crazy talk, sir. :D

Johnson might be the only rational choice but we are no longer a rational nation (if we ever were). We'll see how 4 more disappointing years works out for us.

I'm voting my conscience. I'm choosing the better person.

I like to see people vote for who they want and not for who they are told to.

Yes I would agree with that statement, by taking out "isn't" and insert "is".

And that is a fine display of the birther hate-filled ideology that will lose... again.

that sort of attitude is a vote for Obama

A vote for Romney is a vote for more of the same. People are not defined by the bull crap they talk, but by what they do. Romney's record speaks for itself. I'm voting for Johnson too, and if Obama wins, I don't give a damn. If the GOP wants my vote, they are going to have to earn it. I won't whore out my vote for a political whore.

There is nothing wrong with voting for a third party. I would like to see more participation in elections from third party candidates.

no-alllowing four more years of Obama is a vote for more of the same. Romney will appoint judges far better than what we have seen from Obama.

Obama is a failure. He has proven that. Romney has been successful in just about everything he has done. Is Romney Perfect? of course not but he's a far better choice than an incompetent assclown like Obama.

The good news is Texas will go for Romney no matter what so you can pretend to take the high road and be a purist. Living in Ohio I don't have that luxury. The USA cannot afford four more years of Obama

Only if he could bring himself to vote for Romney.

I’m as at ease with voting for Johnson as I am for voting for Obama, so if I was in a state where the vote was anywhere close (AKA margin conceivably less say 8%), which I’m not because I live in Texas, voting for Johnson could be characterized as “a vote for Romney”. But if my conscience wasn’t clear voting for Obama then no, it is just a plain old Johnson.

Romney actually appointed liberal judges in Massachusetts. The USA cannot handle 4 more years of the same failed bush policies that created the great bush recession in the first place. That is why obama needs to win for the sake of this country.

far lefties have complained that Obama is Bush II.

We need a successful person to be president. Obama is a turd. He is supported by those who resent success.

A vote for Johnson is exactly that. It's not a vote for Obama or Romney. It's a cry for better government.

This election has already been decided and I don't like the decision. The more votes for Johnson might (just might) be a way of communicating our concerns to Obusha.

Just a few months ago nobody had one kind word for Romney. Now he's a savior? He was so trashed by his own party members that he came into this race without a chance.

Nice article. They expressed what I've tried to express to numerous people for the last year or so. I guess that's wy they're are a writer and I'm not.
I am not a purist. There is no such thing as a perfect political party, or a president who governs in accordance with one's every ethical judgment. But some actions are so ruinous to human rights, so destructive of the Constitution, and so contrary to basic morals that they are disqualifying

Sometimes a policy is so reckless or immoral that supporting its backer as "the lesser of two evils" is unacceptable.

Very well put Mr. Friedersdorf

Obama has accomplished more in 4 years than bush did in 8. This guy agrees

Voting for Johnson won't commuicate didley. Well that's not exactly true. By voting you will increase the voter turnout count therefore endorsing a system that gave you a choice of sh***y and really sh***y.

stop lying. Why are the retired SEALS not jumping on the Obama bandwagon

I guess you gave Bush credit for getting the Atlanta Bomber than clinton failed to get (Eric Rudolph)

So, are you voting for ****ty or really ****ty? Or do you vote at all?

I'll vote for the best person, you pick your way through the ****. Be sure to wash your hands after you vote.

Sorry but obama killed obl. Get over it. And romney opposed it in 07.

Credit given. Hardly enough to earn my vote though. I had really high hopes for Obusha and just like Bush, he has done a few good things. But there's too much cronyism and to be honest, he reminds me of Bush (other than his ability to pronounce words).

stop lying. A SEAL killed OBL.

Obama was against the way we got the information needed to find OBL

No he wasn't. Obama killed obl. He ordered it so its on him. And at least obama was for going into pakistan to kill obl unlike romney, mccain, and bush who all opposed it. give credit were credit is due. Obama has killed like 30 of al qaeda's top members.

The only vote total that could lead to real change is a voter turnout of less than 30% anything else is slight variation on the same old bs. I have no allusions that this will happen but I can't vote for war, stomped on civil liberties and corpartism. If you vote the donkey or elephant that is what you are voting for. Call me old fashioned but I'm not voting for anyone who signs off on kill lists based on little more than a $5,000 bribe or imprisons Americans without trial. No doubt there could be a better person between the two but there is not a decent person much less a good person
