The power and influence of black conservatives is greatly underestimated imho. But I doubt that even a personality as forceful as this woman will be able to change the current sorry course of the community that she is describing. Ever since the 1960s the black community has been given the wrong incentives by the government, and the result is that it was essentially destroyed. Consider the fact that the same Democrats who crafted the "War on Poverty" in the '60s were the Democrats who hanged blacks from trees in the '50s. (No, they didn't change parties for the most part, it was the same guys.) Perhaps the results we see in black communities today were by design, and that agenda, to keep blacks down by using government money rather than violence, continues even now.

Oh I love rants like this. Yep, the war on poverty was meant by design to keep the black person down, even though most welfare recipients are white.

Keep on the revisionist history, it's all the dirty righties have left because they are ashamed that conservatism was the root of slavery and segregation. It was liberalism that ended slavery and segregation.

I absolutely believe this. What's been done to black communities and families has been done by design. Too bad they aren't wise enough to realize it.

You are absolutely, inarguably, 100% correct!

According to the most recent "Characteristics of Food Stamp Households and Participants" report available from the US Census Bureau: 32% (10.6 million) of the food stamp recipients are white and 22% (7.4 million) are black.

Also according to Census, there are 308 million people in the US of A. Of those: 78% (240 million) are white/non-Hispanic and 13% (40 million) are black.

Using nice round numbers, and doing a little math: that means 5% (1 out of 20) of the white population participate in the food stamp programs, while 19% (4 out of 20) of the black population participate.

But then, that's not conducive to your divisive "black v. white" argument.

So individuals shouldn't be responsible for themselves and they should rely on government? I suppose that is exactly what you're reflecting if you disagree with that woman.

Nowhere in what you just quoted did I come close to saying what your claiming. Reading comprehension is your friend, I suggest you spend some time doing it. And FYI disagreeing with someone on a subject doesn't mean you automatically agree with the opposite.

I wouldn't say it's by design. More like "unintended consequences." We went in with our best ideals in mind, it just didn't work out like that.

Most of them did change parties (at least after the fact), but don't let facts get in the way of believing that Republicans are always right and Democrats always wrong.

He's certainly not by definition but that doesn't mean the ends of his policies don't create a similar result... I'd call Obama a fascist - not a socialist - he only wishes the US was socialist.

BTW, of course there are more whites on welfare - whites only make up 75% of the population, in a nation of 300,000,000 people, however the percentage of blacks on welfare is highly in-proportionate to whites.

Obama is no more a socialist than Republicans are fascists, but there are quite a few people who get thier news totally from conservative sources who genuinely think that Obama is a socialist or even at times more specifically Marxist.

I guess that republician house is the only thing stopping him from nationalizing all industry in the name of the proletariat, erecting statues of Lenin, and getting all the peasants on collective farms. Of course, it is so clear despite him never even mentioning these things clearly this is his secret agenda.

What do you expect when you're kept in the ghetto and all you know is crime.

Not exactly like middle or upper class blacks have that problem (or any race for that matter)...

And who do you think keeps these black males in the ghetto? who you think glorifies a "thug" lifestyle?? progressives that's who. Of course anytime the lifestyle is knocked progressives jump out of the woodwork and scream "racism."

These right wingers are so ashamed of their cultural heritage - you know, slavery, Jim Crow, Lee Atwater's 'southern strategy' that they change history to suit them. The fact that all those Dixiecrats like Strom Thurmond became Republicans is lost on them.
 
Standard feel good self righteous rant, means nothing. You can stand on a soap box and tout what an impressive gem you are compared to those you deem as below you, but it doesn't fix any problems. The only solution the (R)'s propose is for the working class to take a pay cut to finance additional low wage jobs for those unemployed. That doesn't fix the big problems but it sounds good if you put enough spin on it. People think if it wasn't for the welfare moochers their paycheck would be bigger. Just like trickle down economics its a joke, we've got bigger fish to fry than this piddly crap.
