Mitt Romney Needs To Reconsider The 47%

"there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it"

And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax,” he continued, adding “so our message of low taxes doesn’t connect.

Romney Revealed: Leaked Footage Shows GOP Candidate Claiming 47 Percent of Americans Will Vote Obama Because They Want Gov
He was either:

1) Speaking in generalities ("Americans are overweight") - or,
2) Trying to make the point that the 47% of the country that don't pay taxes have all decided to vote for Obama - and that all of them - basically anyone making less than about $32,000/yr - believes he or she is a victim, and that government must care for them, that they're entitled to government-provided healthcare, food, housing, and more - totally unaware that anyone making under $32,000 could be a Republican. Never occurred to him.

Sorry, but you have to be a blind partisan or a complete moron to buy into the left's narrative on this.

Anyway you slice it, Romney basically said he doesn't care about a large chunk of Americans.
LOL - If you squint really hard, maybe a "Romney basically said half the country should just die" will pop out as well.

Who gives specific percents (47?!) when 'generalizing'?

He was speaking without thinking clearly.

I am a geolibertarian. Obviously I am not partisan or a part of the mainstream left. I just call out bulls**t when I see it.

And how is it a partisan position when even conservatives/Republicans are attacking or refusing to defend what Romney said?

I don't think I can be any clearer on this: NOT EVERYONE WITHIN THAT LOWER 47% GROUP ARE ON FEDERAL ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS! Furthermore, NOT EVERYONE WITHIN THAT LOWER 47% GROUP WILL VOTE FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA!

Mitt Romney's comment was STUPID! He wasn't speaking about his base -vs- Obama's. His comments were related to his tax policy. But more to the point, the question asked had nothing to do with likely voters or tax policy. It referred to "personal responsibility". Had Romney stuck to the "entitlement angle" and discussed how to get more people off them, I could buy his commentary alittle more because he would have come across as being more reasonable in his response. But essentially writing off 47% of Americans was just S-T-U-P-I-D!!
