One sentence to describe Obamacare

And if you're all of a sudden diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor that requires years of treatments, hospitalization, and perhaps even some temporary full-time care and rehab lasting multiple months, all the while you've also got a mortgage, and kids in school, and up until that diagnosis you were a very hard working and ethically upstanding individual who also happened to be unfortunate enough to have been "down-sized" from their job and was currently lacking any health insurance because keeping the roof over the family's head was more important?

Thats an extreme case. It is not a common occurance by any means. Its a case for charity, the reason for charity. As for me I have taken the steps nessary to insure that I am NOT in that position. As should have everyone else, but most of whom have not. It is not MY problem that MOST people fail to plan properly.

The government is NOT a charitable organization. It is an EXCUSE made by those who want more government to take from others. More government programs does not mean less poor. Quite the opposite in many cases. I find highly ironic that christens and the like in the name of charity STEAL from others. Your religous duties are not MY religous duties. I take responsbility for myself and my family. I expect you and others to take responsibilty for yourselves and your families.

Her husband is a truck driver and under the current system they claim he makes too much. MS treatment medications costs thousands of dollars a month (My wife's is $19,000 a month for tysabri, thank goodness I have insurance). The medication that would have helped my mother-in law is copaxone which is around $30,000 a year. My father-in-laws income is $40,000 a year now (was about 30-35k four years ago when this was needed). That of course does not cover pain medication, pads, etc. They do not pro-rate based on the amount of the medication, but whether you qualify or not for medicaid or not. If you do not qualify, you are denied help.

There are two issues with this that are a problem. One is the cost of the medication is INSANELY high and the other is that there is no government help based on the cost of medication compared to your income.

I find it hard to believe that a couple with an income of 40K are denied medicaid when the drugs cost 30K...... but you say it happened so I have no basis to question you.

Do you think it will be any different under means tested obamacare? Probably not.

Like I said before, they don't pro-rate based on costs of medicine, so whether you believe it or not is inconsequential to me. I am just grateful I have insurance for my wife.

It won't make a difference for my mother-in-law, but with Obamacare at least the pre-existing condition clause won't harm someone else.

I've agreed with conservatives many times that the way Obamacare was done and the way it was crammed down the throats of the right was wrong, however, it's better than nothing.

There are many parts of Obamacare I don't agree with as well, but something has to be done and its better than doing nothing at all and hoping the problem goes away like its been treated in the past.

I can describe Obamacare in one sentence.

"Obamacare" is a talking point name for the ACA, often used by conservatives to attack the President.

And the saddest thing of all is the American People are constantly being convinced to vote against their own interests.
Nancy Pelosi was right. They had to pass Obamacare in order for us to find out what's in our own best interests.

And somehow Greece is the rest of the industrialized nations on this planet?

Sorry, dude...I really don't get the point of your inane one-liner.

Not the video is a bad lie.....

And I WILL BE getting real insurance and HC for $25 month........LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

The pre existing condition clause is not what you think. It doesn't mean someone who has or had cancer signs up for insurance and the insurancr company pays for the cancer treatment. Used to be you couldn't get a policy at all with something like this. Under Obamacare you can get a policy written but it will cost much more than a policy for someone without but it will specifically exclude the condition and anything related to it. Had a former employee who had an accident many years ago and one eye was severely damaged. He had something like 22 surgeries on that eye over time and couldn't get coverage at all. We talked to our agent, he said under the new law we could get him covered for anything not related to his eyes and it would cost almost three times what my coverage would be.

This is a case of "well something needs to be done and this is something". Problem is it's 2700 pages and hardly anybody knows what's in it. A high risk pool would be great for people like Don but hat doesn't mean we should blindly accept everything else in the bill just because there is a good idea in /here somewhere.

See if you wanted to write a bill that covered everyone for everything it would only need to be a few pages. It's simple enough to understand words like "all" and "every". 2700 pages means lot of exceptions. If you need Watership Down to explain what it doesn't cover, it ain't universal.
