mitt: agreement ... to raise the US debt ceiling (w)as a “big mistake.”

I agree, we need policies more like those of Spain. 25% unemployment, unable to finance its public debt and has to beg the Germans for money. What is not to like?

Actually the policies of Spain are the same policies of Bush and the GOP. They had a massive building bubble and did nothing to deal with it. They had low debt though, unlike Bush, and was actually lowering the debt with budget surpluses when the Bush and GOP engineered sub-prime mortgage market bubble burst in the US and sent the world economy tumbling into the abyss. Spain still has lower debt load than the US btw..

Obama wanted to kick the can past the election. Why? Because he's a hack. Not a real president.

They should have made his highness face this issue before he asked the public for another 4 years. He's the one who has spent 6 trillion in 4 years. It's one emotional platitude after another with his cult followers. Attention liberals: the fact that Obama has to keep raising the debt ceiling is a clear indication he is spending money this country doesn't have.

Are you even a US citizen?

How many times did bush raise the debt ceiling, you ask? Why, I believe it was 7. And Reagan.....more. Silly, just silly.

Who cares about Bush, a lousy politician who I never voted for and is gone, off the scene. Spain has 25% unemployment and a debt it can't service. It does not have it's own currency so it will be hard to become competitive. The reality is that the country will have to come begging on it's knees to the Germans to bail them out, sad really.

Not sure what the grim realities of Spain and it's downtrodden people have to do with the US. Unless you hope the US will somehow bail you out of your mess, which will not happen.

Spain is a good lesson for the world. Going from World power to beggar to the world.

Reagan cut domestic spending by more than 5% and it remained his baseline budget for his entire presidency. Revenues to the Treasury also doubled after his economic policies went into effect. The exact opposite has happened under Obama. Yearly trillion dollar deficits. Still spending at TARP levels illegally when it was supposed to be a one time expenditure. Not a responsible budget to speak. Harry Reid sits in the Senate and doesn't pass a budget for years. You could care less.

The country wasn't looking at 16 trillion dollars in debt either when both those presidents raised the debt ceiling, and secondly those presidents actually had budgets. I'll grant you Bush spent too much money but Bush didn't have yearly trillion dollar deficits. Obama's reckless spending is what accelerated the issue. You're trapped in the delusion that the economic conditions are the same now than they were back then. It's now been documented that Obama was more worried about re election than the debt crisis. He just wanted to kick the can down the road instead of facing the problem and leading the country through crisis like a leader is supposed to.

Obama promised to cut the deficit in half. He claimed adding so much debt was unpatriotic. Are you giving him a pass? I understand it's easy for you to just make up silly names for entities you've been told to hate by Democrats, but maybe if you try to use some critical thinking skills on your own you might be able to break free of the cult that has blinded you to reality.

Republicans were pushing for spending restraint even before Obama took office. You have to remember that the Democrats controlled congress since 2007.

Pelosi Pulls Omnibus Bill Rumored To Cost $500 Billion | Conservative News, Views & Books

House Republicans have not been given a copy of the omnibus spending bill, as was the case with the so-called stimulus bill which has little to do with actually stimulating the economy but uses the urgency of this economic crisis to try to sneak through hundreds of billions of dollars in taxpayers’ money as payoffs to Democrat constituencies. Due to the disingenuous manner in which the so-called stimulus bill was engineered, Republicans are vigorously calling for transparency in regard to release of the omnibus spending bill.

There's a reason why Democrats got their clocked cleaned in 2010

Romney praises Clinton speech in pre-taped ‘Meet the Press’ interview | The Raw Story

That is basically what he said, since it would have happened if we didn't raise the debt ceiling.

As has been shown, you are both incorrect. Romney felt that the end deal was no good. If you have noted Woodward's book, you would know that Obama blew the original deal by reneging on the agreement originally reached with Boehner to raise taxes by $800B. Obama went to add another $400B after they had a deal for $800. At no time did Romney advocate for default.

And shock of shocks, wonder turd in the WH has missed the deadline mandated in the plan-B deal:

He’s been busy with more important stuff. He’ll get to it when he gets to it, even though (a) he signed a bill just last month setting today as the deadline, and (b) the whole idea of a defense sequester came from Democrats as a poison pill for the GOP in last year’s debt-ceiling deal.

The new target date: Next week, hopefully, although there was a report circulating yesterday that it’d take a couple of weeks at least.

Obama misses deadline for report to Congress on planned defense cuts « Hot Air

Obama kicked the can, and has now missed the deadline to submit. And as we have seen, we are finishing up Obama's first term with 5.3 trillion in added debt, and no plan to do anything about it

Except replace Obama ....................... ;)
