"Vote Black" Buttons Hit DNC Convention Floor (Pic)

I don't see how this is in any way racist. Racial? Absolutely. Racist? No.

I can see it obviously as a joke and pun on the old idiom of "once you go black, you never go back"

I also think it's incredibly idiotic and stupid to wear when many on your side are largely decrying the Republicans for "making it about race" and accusing them of "Dog whistles" and making accusations that their problems with Obama is motivated by racism and then you turn around and make a statement that is CLEARLY based on the notion of his race as a reasoning for your support.

again Z too much logic you are using

some are just not honest enough to see its not racist or are to emotionally challenged to separate the reality of things

liberals-be it on this forum or professional libs in the DNC never give conservatives the benefit of doubt on any comment-be it a joke or otherwise-when it comes to race. WTH should we give the dems a break now?
Accusations of racism or racist are standard weapons in the dem strategy

What if Romney had a button that said "Vote NOBAMA, 'cuz he ain't WHITE!" Would liberals think that was just a funny ha-ha joke?

No, because that is not a play on words of a non-offensive joke.

This is more about sex than race.

What if you put the topic of this thread into context?

I know. MIND BLOWING.

Is "Vote for Mitt. He's a white guy." a common non-offensive saying in pop culture?

Calling a black person the "N" word is a common non-offensive saying in pop culture. Is it racist?

LOL, it's a play on a popular non-offensive saying. I can't believe people are making such a big deal about this.

unfortunately I can and im not surprised that there are people out there that dishonest lol

So then by the standards of some on DP this isn't racist either, right?

Much like the pin, I don't see it as inherently racist as I can see the tongue in cheek humor of it as a legitimate possibility rather than flat vitriol. To accurately declare it as "racist" or not I'd need to know who made it, why they made it, etc...or who presented it, why they presented it, etc.

Because it's obnoxious, dishonest, juvenile, and damaging to the issue of race relations in this country when they do it and since I'm not a goddamn three year old that needs to do play the "you did it to me so I do it to you, Gotcha back!" game....no, I don't see any need to do what some liberals do with regards to racial things.

Depends on the context.

It's not that you value your time, it's that you have no argument.
That MUST be it. It couldn't be that your arguments are so basic, juvenile and asinine that I know a debate wouldn't be productive.

Well, no....no it's not.

Even the common phrasing it's parodying is at least AS Much about race as it is about sex...as it's specifically racially tinged by being built specifically upon a racial stereotype that black men have larger packages.

So at best, the original phrasing is 50/50 sexual to racial...and that's even being REALLY generous.

However, this one isn't talking about anything sexual...it's talking about voting. It takes the sexual aspect out of it. It's about race and parody

that is a rational position. SO is thrashing them on stuff they have been pulling on us for years.

So your context of racism, like sexual harassment, being judged by the recipient of the act or comment, then there appears to be plenty who received the message as being racist.

Umm, no it's not.

It's a non-offensive statement in SOME areas of pop culture when stated by SOME people.

It'd help if you actually were speaking about reality when you're attempting to talk about pop culture to make your point.

I wish I was this intelligent.

The later part of your statement is only rational if you haven't been bitching, complaining, or insulting them for "pulling" that on you for years.

If you have....then it's not rational, because you're flaming hypocrite.

And even if it is rational, it's still ridiculous juvenile and idiotic if you had an issue with them doing it in the first place and are only doing it yourself because...you know...somehow the other side acting like a jackass magically makes your actions not be like that of a jackass when you do the exact same thing.

Politics is a nasty game. All that really counts is winning in the end

I disagree, I think that is half of the reason why it is funny. It's tongue and cheek, voting doesn't replace the sexual aspect, without the sexual aspect it's not funny.

What you don't realize is the only harm being done by blowing this out of proportion is to the people blowing it out of proportion. I feel quite certain that no Democrat gives a damn if non-Democrats don't give us the "benefit of the doubt."

Your reality? What might that be?

It'd? Is that pop culture too?
