What was the Romney camp thinking, letting an 82 year old actor ad lib at 10:00pm on the last day of the convention. This will eat into what should have been a Friday news day dominated by Romney coverage... Now it will be split 50/50 with Eastwood coverage.

It shows a severe lack of judgement by the team Romney selected to manage the convention, which reflects badly on Romney's judgement. Seriously, someone should have put a stop to that idea, or at least moved Clint to the 4:30pm slot.

I imagine Romney's team had delusions of something simillar to the Super Bowl Half time spot Eastwood narrated... but that was a professionally written and produced piece, and probably took Eastwood 50 takes to get right.

It's was just astonishing what happened tonight.

Well he's an old, angry white guy. Sums up the base of the party pretty well, I would have thought.

Thats it! I'm not voting for Eastwood.:)

Ha! Me either, too funny, I actually felt kinda sorry for Clint, for Romney the shame is everyone will be talking about Clint tomorrow not mitts speech .

Personally I loved the chair bit. I thought it was hilarious. However, the rest of it was ...yeah. The interventions with the chair were amazing.

When future generations look back into the history books it will be said that Clint Eastwood and a chair stole Mitt Romney's thunder at the RNC in 2012. People may not understand what that means, and frankly I'm still trying to figure it out, but there you have it.

The only thing that could have redeemed Clint during that speech is if he would have accidentally referred to the chair as "Harvey" at least once.

Rachael Maddow's reaction was fantastic afterwords in that it seemed like she was shell shocked by what just happened. Lat she said "That was the weirdest thing I've ever seen at a political convention in my entire life, and it will be the weirdest thing I've ever seen if I live to be 100."

Eastwoods speech was painful, occasionally witty, unbelievably disrespectful and condescending, rambling, confused, and sporadic. It may have been one of the most morbidly fascinating things I have ever seen on live t.v.

There was that part where he suggested Obama rethink his Afghan policy by asking the Russians about their 10 year quagmire. Or when he told the republican crowd in front of him that they shouldn't vote for a guy they didn't really want in office (which probably irked the Ron Paul supporters). He also said we don't need a lawyer in the white house even though Romney has a law degree from Harvard.

My guess is this has a good chance of being what this convention is remembered for.

I have seen a few speeches about Romney, and sorry, not one of the keynote speeches I have seen seem passionate about Romney. Not even the parts I have seen from his wifes speech. Maybe it was in the parts I did not see but it may have been a loving speech but passionate? No.

Only for 67 more days until we kick him out of office

Clint Eastwood is an American Icon and he sat the boy narcissist president down and handled business

If you fail at your job as president you don't deserve a second chance

Since he "can't do that to himself" I hope Obamacare isn't going to pay for Clint's Viagra.

The GOP likes demented has been actors.

Judging by the way you and your fellow Cult Members treat the elderly it's no surprise your messiah so coldly cut 716B from Medicare

You people expose yourselves even more by using the tired cliche tactics of mocking, humiliation, ect. It's all to distract from the Obama's pathetically failed record as president

People in tired cliche houses shouldn't keep spewing them. What does "boy President" mean, when talking of a 51 year old man?

not good or bad, but ugly?

Yet another in a long line of Romney and GOP mistakes. Sure the Romtards will think it was great to have clint up there interviewing an empty chair, but I was juist left wondering if Clint actually thought obama was there, or that Obama would really tell Mitt to go **** himself, which would actually be classic.

Really, is a senile old man the best person you can get to be your big headline star? That was worse than watching Dick Clark after his stroke.

His he was wearing a Costco shirt.....

...Clint made Obama's day.

If the guy did this at the DNC, y'all would have thought he was brilliant. Stop pretending.

Polished sounded bites taken from movies in context are very effective in campaigns. Eastwood did a Hollywood type exercise in the political arena. It was a poor choice by both Eastwood and the Romney campaign.
