I'm of a dying breed of political cartoonists, and i have to say that this election year is a gold mine of material. the pure amount of mud slinging this year is unprecedented. I've heard the whole speech of the infamous "you didn't build that" and it had some interesting points. But i'm not debating the speech itself, but the twisting of words that the GOP and conservative media have grabbed a hold of. Grasping at straws. It's like if i had the right editing tools and enough footage i could make a video of the president saying just about anything. Just the fact that they omit the entire speech save for half of a sentence is just pitiful. Do they really think we the people as a whole are too lazy to find out the entire story? for one, i don't take any ones word for something anymore, I've got to see it for myself. So twist away, the real facts will burst your balloon.

Did you draw that cartoon? Excellent!!

Your opinion? Not-so-much. Most of that speech was a degradation of entrepreneurs and business builders. Or did I miss where he complimented their ingenuity and dedication? No? I didn't think so.

Rough paraphrases: "They think they're smarter than other people." "They think they work harder than other people." WTF?? They DO! Anyone who's ever started a business knows that. Obama doesn't because he's never created anything on his own dime.

yes that's one of my cartoons, i do daily cartoons i post on Facebook, search the art of poking fun.

I try and stay down the middle with my views, and the point of this wasn't exactly about the issues, but the word twisting behind it. My Grandfather was a business owner and my father is a business owner. Politically we'll never see eye to eye. I see points on both sides and i can see how someone who has built a business from the ground up would take offence to that. but i am not a business man, i'm more of a funny man. In these campaigns i kind of look at it like interpreting a bible verse (or any other theological what not, insert your faith here _____ ) what i got out of it was a reminder of our reliance on government. No matter how much blood sweat and tears you put into a business, you still have to rely on government. Roads and bridges to get your product to the consumer, advertising on the internet, which was created by government funding. I see both sides and i'm not exactly thrilled to be reliant on anybody, but it just is. This all seems like salt on a wound from a looming class war.

to me nobody is right or wrong, it's just different shades of grey. But i don't like getting bits and pieces of a speech to try and askew my own opinion. I'd like to get the whole story from my media sources and not some sound bite. It's sneaky and underhanded

No it wasn't.

Yes, yes you did.
