Obama Campaign Offers Deal to Romney

It is my belief that the IRS administers at least a review of tax returns of those reporting a high gross income, and I would guess that those with anything unusual in the documents would be pulled out for a more extensive review. In addition, Romney didn't file the short form on his own. It was prepared and filed by an accounting firm. It would surprise me if there was actually anything unusual in those forms.

Secondly, the IRS is a government bureaucracy, and as such is headed by the ultimate boss. If there were anything there, it would seem reasonable that it would have been leaked long before now. The refusal is just a talking point to swing the conversation away from real issues.

Thirdly, any promise to leave Romney alone if he will just do this one last thing should be viewed with suspicion by Romney. Track records would indicate otherwise.

The Obama Campaign spokesman just went on Fox News and offered Romney a deal. Show us 5 years' tax returns and we'll leave you alone.

I don't think they get it. The American people don't care about Romney's tax returns. They want Obama to focus on the issues.

I think the more Obama harps on this, the better chance Romney has at the polls.

What do you think?

Quid pro Quo

Let's see the college transcripts. I want to see financial records. Everything.

How did Obama get into Columbia

Isn't it funny that Romney cared about Ted Kennedy's tax returns, and John Kerry's tax returns, but his own tax returns are irrelevant? Well, it wouldn't be Mitt if it wasn't a flip flop.
Mitt doing a flip flop? You are kidding of course.

aka, "I like the gutter politics because it keeps the focus off the issues."
You think asking a candidate to be transparent in his finances is gutter politics?

This is an admission that the son will not live up to the standard of the father.

I can hear that rumble beneath the ground.

Admission of what? You have proof of something or are you just spouting gas like usual?

If you want to see tax returns, we want to see college transcripts and financial records

You think asking a candidate to be transparent in his finances is gutter politics?
Nah, it is just hypocritical when the one doing the asking has been anything but transparent about his history

Or they want equity. Obama released 12 years of his tax returns but Romney can't do the same?

No body ****ing cares about Obama's tax returns, what we do care about is the economy, and unemployment above 8% for 42 months etc etc.

Kennedy is dead...Kerry is a has been.

Ya got any more deflections?

The dumbas can ask all he wants, and from one that is not transparent can hardly ask someone else to be something he is not.

Honestly, if Obama was found out to be a thieving tax dodge I'd never vote for him. But this doesn't apply for Conservatives who'll support Romney even if we found out he has 666 branded on the back of his head. If Romney is clean, cool, he's not a thieving tax dodge. All he'd have to do after that is abandon his failed Trickle down economic beliefs and I'd consider voting Republican.

You so funny, dude!!

Seriously, though...I highly doubt you would consider not voting for Obama under ANY circumstances. I mean, isn't it enough that he flouts the law, shirks his responsibility as President and has even given the Courts the middle finger?

Among registered voters, 37 percent said what they had heard about Romney's taxes made them less favorable toward him, while among independents 30 percent agreed.

Now this right here tells the whole story...such as it is.

The only thing anyone has heard about Romney's taxes is all the innuendo, lies and divisive statements made by Obama and his people. That 37% is being duped.

yes, as I said in another thread, the dems are better at slander and pig sty politics.

None of that refutes the claim that Romney sought amnesty for his secret Swiss account, only his returns from 2009 would show that to be false. Then there's that $100 million plus IRA..........

And, as we see in this thread...extortion.

An admission that Willard cannot live up to his fathers expectation....I just wrote that, why is it so hard to read that? Don't answer, I know why....cognitive dissonance.

What do you think?

I think we haven't focused on this issues for like 2 decades now and most of this is just the common form of political belligerence and partisanship.

because, frankly, neither party has a record to run on.

Yup, pretty much. "Don't look over here, look at that guy cause he really sucks! Seriously guys, way worse than me!"

And that's been our election cycles as of late. Another reason to not vote Republocrat.

I find it rather hypocritical of Romney to ask for 5 years of tax returns from Ryan and he does not even show 2 years of his own returns.

I'm tired of this nonsense. If I were the Romney campaign my response would be, "Shut up and focus on the issues. Let's discuss unemployment, the housing crisis, the economy's low/non-existent growth."
