Bain Capital's Ties to Salvadoran Death Squads | The Nation

When Bain Capital was founded in 1984, Romney and his partners had trouble raising funds for their initial investments. “$9 million came from rich Latin Americans,” the Times reports, “including powerful Salvadoran families living in Miami.… At the time, U.S. officials were publicly accusing some exiles in Miami of funding right-wing death squads in El Salvador. Some family members of the first Bain Capital investors were later linked to groups responsible for killings.”

Well well, how does Romney explain this one? Let me guess.. he as the only one on the planet, did not know there was a civil war in El Salvador and the right wing death squads were being funded by the rich El Salvadorian families, who also lived in Miami?

Guess building your life's work on the blood of 30+ thousand dead South American's is just the price of capitalism eh?

Haven't Democrats' learned by now that attacking venture capital is a flawed and failed proposition? Haven't Democrats learned by now that the electorate has NOT been swayed by anti-Bain attack ads?

Democrats have never been known for extraordinary foresight. It appears you folks don't have a handle on Hindsight 20/20 either.

Wow, you Libs are desperate.

And yet, Obama's lead is growing, so it appears that it IS working....

If you consider a lead that falls within the margin of error to be something to brag about, then perhaps you should find a new hobby or something. Politics isn't your thing.

You might want to do a little more reading on margin of error. FYI, it applies to any one poll, but if you have six or eight polls and average them together and then repeat the results on a daily/weekly basis for a number of months ... the result is not within the margin of error.

Attacking vulture capitalism DID work in the Republican primaries, but not to the degree that it wiped Romney out. But that does not mean that it wont destroy him in the general election campaign. Republican voters have different values than Independents and Democrats and Romney has been slipping in the polls since these ads have started. America is in the process of vetting Romney and the Democrats and providing the details that are painting a picture of Romney as someone who values money over humanity. These stories will continue to build. While Romney continues to look like he is someone that is trying to hide things from the AMerican voter. He is on defence when he shoudl be on offence.

"Republicans have different values than Independents...."

LOL

I stopped reading right there, because such a fallacy doesn't justify any further dignification of your opinion.

I'm sure if you selectively search the web, you can find a link between Bain/Romney and any wrong doing/doer. Keep it up we all need a little humor in our day, since the economy is going down like the Hindenberg. :lamo

And you're the one who just started a moan thread about "the most dishonest campaign."

:lamo

It's clear that the it's not dishonesty that bothers you; it's the side it's coming from, /analysis.

Notice that I have in no way defended this ad? I think the ad is bull**** and should be pulled. But unlike many dishonest ads from Romney, this one was not produced by the campaign.

What exactly is DISHONEST about this story?
Bain took money from families that supported death squads. The facts seem to be pretty clear cut.

Oh, yeah; you totally condemned it.

Yet you nod approvingly at how effective it is for Obama's campaign.

That's a really weak list of links trying to tie it all to Bain.

It may not be dishonest, but IMO it's silly to argue that Romney was somehow responsible for investigating possible impropriety of family members of his investors in a foreign country ... when it only came to light later. These were allegedly FAMILY MEMBERS of Bain investors -- not the investors themselves. Lame.

Can you get any weaker?

Obama = Guilt by association is wrong

Romney = Guilt by association - You are evil!!!

Nobody has shown Bain was aware.

strrrrrreeeeeeetttttchhhhhh!

By the way, what does "ties to" mean?

There is 6 degrees of seperation for just about anything in this world.

Obama has murdered thousands of Americans, Afghanis and Iraqis. He has received billions in bribes. He has caused millions of Americans to lose their homes to foreclosures and has thrown millions more out of work.

All the above is 100% true. Obviously, he is a felon and should be in prison.

All the above AND received a Nobel PEACE prize...:lamo

I see the right is in full panic mode and already started their disinformation campaign... must mean it is at least partially true.
