I'm not a fan of either party. I believe they are ALL bought and paid for by the same people.
Numerous polls show that a vast majority of people think we are on the wrong track. What do you think we should do? My thoughts:
1. 5 year energy plan to bury Middle East dependency using a combination of natural gas, nuclear and the development of green energy development, similar to the space race. Conversion of vehicles to natural and/or liquid gas. Emphasize letting them live in the 5th century if that is their desire. Let ‘em pound sand.
2. Jobs, jobs, jobs! Come up with a plan and name someone BIG to implement it.
3. Government reduction plan: 5% across-the-board spending cuts, consolidation of agencies and departments, tax reform (revolution).
4. Name potential cabinet appointees (Ron Paul, Colin Powell, Elizabeth Warren {or her clone} etc.
5. Name VP candidate.
6. National defense, not offense. Drastic cut-backs such as getting out of places we’ve been since WW II (Japan, Germany etc.).
7. Bring home National Guard troops for use on the border where they belong, not overseas. They are called the National Guard for a reason!
8. Enunciate an immigration policy consisting of border security, employer punishment and expanded quotas where necessary.
9. Encourage citizenship of educated foreign individuals and entrepreneurs.
10. Education reform and someone to run it. Massive change based on getting education to educate to the coming economy, not the economy of the last century. Public education built this country. The greatest thing this country offers is twelve years of free education. It’s up to the local level to get control of the public schools.
11. Welfare reform: drug testing, report for work at 9:00 AM 5 days a week to perform public service or just to report and be sent back home. Require SOMETHING in return.
12. Campaign finance reform: full disclosure of ALL donors within 24 hours of receipt.
13. Campaign reform: no political advertising until all parties have concluded their conventions.
14. Term limits for all federal elective offices and a lifetime ban on becoming a paid lobbyist after term ends.
15. Congress meets in full quarterly. All other time is spent in their home districts with meetings done over the net by teleconferencing etc unless a national emergency is declared. This will keep them closer to their constituents and make it more difficult for lobbyists to access them.
This is just a beginning list. What can you add to it?
