Clint Eastwood endorsing Romney's presidential bid - Yahoo! News

SUN VALLEY, Idaho (AP) — Clint Eastwood just made Mitt Romney's day.

The Oscar-winning director and longtime movie star says he's endorsing the Republican presidential candidate.

Eastwood tells The Associated Press that he's backing Romney because, in Eastwood's words, "I think the country needs a boost."

Eastwood was among those attending a Romney fundraiser Friday night in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Make his day!

Love the guys films. Had a great meal at his restaurant in Carmel two years ago. I have always liked the guy.

I do NOT get my political advice or direction from celebrities.

Unless they're porn stars?

Why are you attempting to substitute silly personal insults for reasoned discussion?

Grow a sense of humor dude, it'll help you around here.

Huh. I kinda thought Eastwood leaned left. shrug

Elementary school level insults are not humor. They are simply silly personal insults.

What would help around here is if you could follow your own train of thought and intelligently respond to previous posts without resorting to insults.

So once again, what to porn stars have to do with me taking political advice from celebrities?

Perhaps that is due to Eastwood making the Chrysler commercial which was very favorable to the city of Detroit while the right win in this nation uses Detroit as the symbol of all that is wrong with America? Perhaps some on the right thought he was betraying the talking points of the cause?

Thanks Rob, I really didnt know.

About the time I found out he was libertarian was about the time I started getting familiar with the Libertarian Party years ago. If you recall, he was mayor of some city in Cali and he ran because he said the laws were too ridiculous. Something about getting a fine for eating ice cream on the sidewalk or something like that. Sounded like a city with an overbearing Home Owners Association-like complex.

God damn liberal mass media titans!

Seriously though the guy is a very talented film maker. And works with other talented people like Sean Penn. I still have full respect for Clint Eastwood eventhough I might disagree with his politics.

He did, but Obama changed his mind.

Why do you feel the need to lie?

Eastwood registered as a Republican in order to vote for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and he passively supported Richard Nixon's 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns. He later criticized Nixon's handling of the Vietnam War and his morality during Watergate.[2][3] He usually describes himself as a libertarian in interviews.[4] He told USA Weekend in 2004, "I don't see myself as conservative, but I'm not ultra-leftist. ... I like the libertarian view, which is to leave everyone alone. Even as a kid, I was annoyed by people who wanted to tell everyone how to live."[5]

During the 2008 United States Presidential Election, Eastwood endorsed John McCain for President; he has known McCain since 1973.[8] Upon the election of Barack Obama, Eastwood stated "Obama is my president now and I am going to be wishing him the very best because it is what is best for all of us."[9]

I am a big fan Eastwood. Frankly, I think he is too good for the Republican Party of today but I guess he isn’t into voting third party. He is a pro-choice, pro-gay marriage type of Libertarian. He made the Detroit commercial because he believed in it. I am sure I would disagree with him on many things but I sure can’t call him a hack.
