Are the dems getting desperate? [W:33]

We spend more than all other nations combined on defense. It's too damn much. Why do we want to fight even 1 more war no less 2 at a time. Our "wars" lately have been futile "adventures" with no way to win anyway. We need to spend that money rebuilding OUR bridges and infrastructure for a change.

Who gets the money spent on defense? Think about it.

American companies that build planes, ships, tanks, guns, ammo, uniforms, boots, rations, transportation et al. Defense spending puts millions of american blue collar workers in good paying jobs.

Do you think that bridge and road construction would provide as many jobs at the same pay rates? Would an airplane electronics tech find a job in road construction?

Your idea sounds good until you think it through.

Just pointing out that Bobcat ignored the Hypocrisy Check! challenge. Another one who has failed on the game show.

I was in Newark airport getting on a Pan Am flight when the news came about Lockerbie Pan Am Flight 103

Then what took so long to invade Libya and make things right, as you suggest? You should remember the exact day, month, yr. Sorry it was not for PA 103 it was all about oil.

OK, folks, it's time for DP's FAVORITE game show, Hypocrisy Check! I am your host, CaptainCourtesy. And our newest contestant is Bobcat. WELCOME Bobcat. Now here's your Hypocrisy Check! question...

So, Bobcat... what do you think of a campaign that's completely based on the opponent's birth certificate, where he went to church, and who he had for dinner at his house 20 years ago? Would you say that's "sleaze politics"?

If thats what Romney's campaign was based on, you would be right. But Romney has not brought up any of those things. Those questions are being asked by average citizens who have a right to know everything about the guy who has the keys to the nuclear trigger. There is no hypocrisy here, the hypocrisy is in demanding to see romney's taxes and Bush's college and military records, but refusing to ask for obama's college records.

I see, the government creates jobs when it spent within the military industrial complex; but if the government spends its money on roads and bridges meaningful jobs are not created. Of course, when you think it through, goods and services to the military really do little beyond that specific purpose, they are ultimately consumable products; on the other end, roads and bridges are infrastructure, used by all, every day, in pursuit of a better widget/ a better life. Spending money on disposable goods vs. investing money in infrastructure. As you stated, ".....Your idea sounds good until you think it through..."

Nonetheless, thanks for endorsing the concept that government spending leads to job creation.

see post #53, I scored a 100 on the challenge, you scored -10

Actually, you completely failed... because you didn't even understand the question. So... but wait... I have been informed by our sponsors that you're going to be allowed a second chance. AND for some reason, they've even allowed me to give you a hint. So, here we go...

So, Bobcat... what do you think of a campaign, like the one that conservatives ran in 2008 that's completely based on the opponent's birth certificate, where he went to church, and who he had for dinner at his house 20 years ago? Would you say that's "sleaze politics"?

Time's a-wastin, Bobcat. Most people fail at Hypocrisy Check! Let's see if you can be one of the few who win.

Must be an alternate reality in which this happened. I don't recall McCain campaigning on any of that.

Good. And I don't see Obama campaigning on the claims that Bobcat made. If you agree with this, then you will be one of the few winners on Hypocrisy Check! If you do not, then you will be one of the countless losers.

Do you listen to the news? the dems have attacked Ann Romeny for a shirt but said nothing about Michelle wearing a $7 jacket. they have attacked Romney on just about every topic they can think of--all baseless. they have attcked their dog and their horse.

We attacked Romney about his treatment of is dog, and honest to goodness are there few things more ridiulous than horse dancing?

Horse dancing is like cocaine. It's a symptom of having too much money.

Kinda like carrying a small dog dressed in human clothes around with you everywhere.

People don't ask because nobody doubts them. Romney's own father stated that any politician that doesnt release his tax returns is hiding something. And the same standard should go for the person who is pursuing that nuclear trigger.

That's just not true. People have asked. They asked in the past campaign, and they've asked in this one. Obama refuses to allow the release of anything having to do with his college years. So, here is a borrowed hypocisy check:

Match your desire to see Romney's tax records with your willingness to give Obama a pass on releasing his college records and writings. Do you pass or fail the check?

Ummm... excuse me, but I am the originator and SOLE proprietor of the Hypocrisy Check! franchise. All royalties are to be paid to CaptainCourtesy Enterprises, Inc.

Good question, btw.

Re: Are the dems getting desperate?

I will note the hypocisy works both ways. Those who want to see Obama's college records should also want to see Romney's tax records. I'm not sure either will reveal anything, but if you want to see, you should want to see as much as you can.

Don't even do them the favor of equating them. Recent tax records are relevant to a candidate's qualifications. College transcripts from 30+ years ago ... not so much.

When have you seen rich people carrying around little people?

Yeah, and Obama invaded Libya making for a 3rd. I could never figure out why he invaded Libya, it was said for humanitarian purposes, but in reality is was for oil. In Syria there are far more humanitarian needs than Libya ever had, yet Obama sits on the side line. It's all about oil.

I agree that there was no reason to get involved militarily in the Libyan conflict... as that truly was a civil war, that was up to the Lybians to decide... As you rightly pointed out Syria has had far more need for humanitarian aid from the abuses of the government... Let's also not forget to point out how many other countries around the world need humanitarian aid, and protection from brutal military regimes while the president has done nothing... Let's look 1 country south to Darfur... the president was vocal about Bush not sending troops there, and sending them to Iraq instead... yet this president sent forces to Libya, not Darfur...

I don't think it's about oil... Libya has never really been an ally, even if free from qaddafi... I think it was clearly politically motivated... attempting to push the "I ousted one of our major enemies"... neglecting the fact that he hasn't been a major enemy since like 1987...

If you also look, its within his sphere of interest... the Arab Africa... he acted in Libya, Egypt, pirates off Somalia... His roots are Kenyan, but Kenyan that are Arab influenced. He's always taken a particular interest in the pan-arab movement, and it's black separatist influence within the US. He has no interest in Syria, that's a whole other part of the world... Which is also astonishing, since he expanded the war in Afghanistan...

Still... this goes to show how desperate the Dems are... They're using him using force in Libya as a strong talking point for the president in this election... eventhough it just further illustrates the president's two-faced nature, in that he harshly criticized Bush for the use of pre-emptive strike in Iraq, and then used pre-emptive strike in Libya...

Ridiculous question! The release of tax returns by POTUS candidates is usual and customary; showing your college transcript to anyone other than your first employer, your graduate school or your mom is highly unusual to absurd. Why not ask your doctor on your next visit if you can see his college record?

A little known fact is that Sarah Palin, who we all know as a Fox News commentator that is paid incredible amounts of money yet rarely has anything worthwhile to say, once ran as McCain's running mate. She loved to talk about who Obama "palled around with" and where he went to church. Given she was supposedly a key part of the McCain campaign, its not a stretch to say that McCain campaigned on these things.
