Greetings. This is Shilliam Watner and I haven't been online here in a while. I hope this topic sparks debate. Here we go. This new attack strategy that many consider 'toxic' was released against Obama yesterday afternoon nationally. I saw it on Fox News Channel during Bill O'Reilly. I have to say I have never heard of the Conservative Majority Fund that is funding this harsh attack on Obama. They are based out of Arlington,VA. Research I have done revealed that Larry Ward, who is a protege of Dick Morris, President Clinton’s former campaign advisor and Fox News pundit is behind this. Ward also is president of PoliticalMedia.com and worked for the Bush reelection in 2004 who's specialty were attacks on John Kerry (remember the 'Swiftboat' attacks?). So far the White House has been unable to respond to this attack against Obama and if they do, how?

Whatever, if someone wants to pay attention to it, go ahead. Personally, I don't need stuff like this, just his record and what he has done in the last four years tells me he should be sent packing at the soonest possible moment.

I can see why they don't respond. It has left them speechless (which for politicians is really saying something). That will go down in history as the stupidest, most far fetched way of making a buck through nonsense.

Surely you don't think FOX is a news source or that this youtube special is anything but a scam?

Fox News Channel is a source where the ads were aired. I saw it during the Bill O'Reilly show. Another person at another forum saw the ad air on a ABC channel during his local news.

Paid advertising does not imply verisimilitude. They could claim Obusha was from Mars and that the earth was triangular and as long as they pay for the airtime, they can do this. Its that freedom of speech thing.

Obviously, they anticipate donations to "the cause" and hope to find a few thousand suckers to sign up and help out. They really did a poor job on the clip though. Old nonsense being rehashed, nothing intelligent or thought provoking. Can you imagine this changing one vote? PT Barnum must be proud.

Something I found most curious that you might help me out with if you know. The attack ad says he has a Massachusetts social security number. I have never heard this before. How did Obama get a Massachusetts SS# when he never lived there but instead grew up in Hawaii? Shouldn't he have received a Hawaiian SS #?

I don't know. It sure seems a lot of money to make up a claim he is using a Massachusetts SS# to put in that ad in order for it to go on the national media networks.

Ugg, ridiculous ad. Poor voice over as well I think. I honestly don't think it'll get a lot of run time and frankly think it could do as much harm or good to the Republican effort. That said, Free Speech is a bitch and Republicans are going to have to deal with idiots on their side doing idiotic things unfortunately. And liberals are going to have to deal with idiots on their side stereotyping all Republicans due to what a few idiots do.

First, I believe the Video has it wrong. I think its a Conneticut SSN. Second, the likely reason is a typographical error. SSN's are based on the address the card is mailed to not necessarily where you're born, so it's based of zip code. The Zip Code for Honolulu where Obama lived is 96814. The Zip Code Danbury, Conneticut is 06814. Two potential most likely scenarios other than some grand scale conspiratorial cover up was simply human error. Either the 9 was written poorly and was read as a "0" or more likely, when entering it into the system the individual hit 0 instead of 9 due to their proximity to each other.

Researching your post, I saw this at another forum from another poster. He/she states:


"in response to an FOIA request, the SS-5 (Application for Social Security Card) of a man who appears in the Social Security death index with a number just one digit lower than President Obama's. This man, Thomas Wood, was born in 1962 and died in 1981. The SS-5 showed he had requested his Social Security number on March 21, 1977. President Obama's number was probably issued the same day. It is perfectly reasonable that a high school sophomore would be requesting a Social Security number in the spring, while getting ready to start a summer job at Baskin Robbins.

The first three digits of a Social Security number at that time were called the "Area Number". And it's true that the Area Number 042 is issued for people who live in Connecticut (or apply for the Social Security card with a mailing address in Connecticut). President Obama lived in Hawaii in 1977, while attending Punahou School. He attended Punahoufrom the fifth grade until graduating in 1979, and his first job was at the Baskin Robbins at the corner of King and Punahou Streets in Honolulu."

So I believe according to this, there is no way Obama should have a Connecticut number. He had to have filled out his application and applied at a local office in Hawaii.

If this is true, it's an embarrassment to the Social Security Administration. They should have the tightest quality control around.

Having watched the commercial I must say it is one of the worst I have ever seen that was professionally produced and had money behind it. Not only did it sound like a late night Ronco commercial complete with a stereotypical announcer, every single thing in it was the 'inside the beltway' crap that hardly anybody cares about outside of right wing circles and their sycophants and toadies on sites like this who dutifully parrot their marching orders.

The public does not care about the college grade of Obama. And what the hell is a "Massachusetts social security number" and why is it important?

If this is the kind of thing that Citizens United opened the door to - the door was positioned on a reeking out house.

I'd agree that his SS# was probably just a clerical error or bad handwriting. Either someone hit the wrong key or maybe Obama wrote down a 9 that looked like a 0 when he filled out the written form.

But what about the other points such as having his college records sealed? It seems like he's trying to hide something.

Who knows, maybe he was admitted as a foreign exchange student or something.

Besides being rather bad, there are several things about it that don't make sense. First, if it is trying to get the Dems to oust him and get a different nominee, why would they even bother paying to have it aired on Fox? Why would they use a name containing the word conservative when such would lead to assumptions of the Reps being behind it and back splash any negativitiy about towards the Reps if they are indeed a group that "secretly" supports the Reps?

My interpretation of this video is it was done by an Obama supporter with the intent of making Republicans, especially any third party advertiser for the Reps, look bad and to splash negative feedback onto the Reps and any third party advertising for the Reps. This theory goes far in explaining the blatant confrontationalism of the video, the supposedly poor quality, the use of conservative in the name of the group (something parties supporting Bush in past never did) and the fact that it brings up points that really have no bearing after he has already served 4 years, some of which have been hashed on for years. I wouldn't be suprised to learn that this originated in the Obama camp, not saying it did, but if it did, not suprised.

Don't be too suprised if more offensive ads pop up from this group.

Or maybe it's really just no one's damn business and he's not releasing it because he doesn't have to....just like Romney with the taxes

The Fox News Channel sure has a lot of viewers. Their ratings top the other network news shows. Do the research. That ad you saw is playing on Fox and ABC right now.

That is a correct statement. He has many errors. In fact too many compared to the average person doesn't have.
