Obama's latest tactic....

Colorblind theory is not anywhere I would want to live. I happen to like our differences and pretending that those differences don't exist is naive and silly.

You obviously are confused about the real concept behind 'colorblind'. You can notice and celebrate differences and learn from each other, but when it comes to hiring, or helping (and more), that is where 'colorblind' kicks in. You help all the people, you help all the kids, you help ALL.. Merit of the individual and their abilities overrides all other things about them.

Where are American jobs going to? How do we get them back?

We need to compete with China so we can get those lost jobs back. The way to compete with them is to change our environmental and labor laws so they are similar to the countries that we are competing against.

Is a race to the bottom one that you really want to win?

It's called securing his base. It would be safe to assume that proportionately more Blacks support Obama than Whites. If there is an audience where people will at least respect the Office of President, if they cannot respect the man, it is, for President Obama, an audience of Black voters. Why would that not be a smart move at this point? From time to time it's a wise move to play to your strength. I see Obama doing just that in this instance.

It is plain foolish to think that any large number of Black Americans are going to support Romney, they aren't. If Romney cannot relate to 99.9% of most White Americans, and he cannot, he damn sure cannot relate to most Black Americans. The GOP and Romney represent the real possibilities of huge social and economic regression for Black Americans. The GOP apparently believes that there is true racial equality in all things American. Black Americans, Hispanic Americans and progressives know that while progress has been made, it wasn't long ago that Black people were sitting in the back of the bus. Romney and the GOP do not represent a continuation of the Dream fulfilled, but rather a bus ride back to the shadows of the plantation. More than a few White people agree and see Romney and the GOP as the past rather than the future.

Very well said. Twenty somethings raised on CATO Institute dogma have no idea what this country was truly like for far too many people in it for very long time.

You want benefits to be colorblind while oppression has never been.

You think, like 98% of the black community vote for a black president. And what is he doing for the black community or any community for that matter, like jobs. No jobs. But hey he's black, or is his black and white. Makes no difference he's black enough, that's enough, racism at it's worst.

I have no idea what it is you are trying to say. Sorry.

Quite a twisted view you have there. Though I expect such things from people that tend to live in the past.

I believe that even intellectual liberals understand that what the President is proposing with this EO is 100% unmitigated election year pandering.

Unfortunately, those liberals didn't show up on this thread to offer up their pragmatism and understanding of election year tactics.

My Way News - In Obama era, have race relations improved?

Less than a year later, an August 2011 Gallup poll showed a further decline in racial optimism: 35 percent said race relations had improved due to Obama's election, 41 percent said no change, and 23 percent said things were worse.
Around this time, some African-American lawmakers and pundits openly complained about the president's refusal to specifically target any programs at high black unemployment. An interviewer from Black Entertainment Television asked Obama why not.
"That's not how America works," Obama replied.

This juxtaposed against the OP, is very interesting....

News from The Associated Press

Ah, instead of fixing the whole thing, he just panders to a group. What a stunning lack of leadership and a transparent grasp at buying votes.

That's the advantage of holdng the offic eduring an election year. Politicians have been doing this for years. Bush Jr did it in 2004 by giving a $250 tax rebate to all americans making under $100.000. This is something that has become a typical part of our corporate political system.

anyone know what voter turnout was for african american in 2008 and 2010?

I love how when Obama targets a group of people it is a horrendous tactic but when Romney goes and feeds Israelis just what they want to hear in an effort to boost his chances with a certain group of people, its ok.

He would sell his soul for a vote......It is so disgusting.

I can see why you look at Romney pandering in Israel and coming to that justifiable conclusion.

No negative campaigning eh? HAHAHA... talk about your record Obama... Please.

I forgot that racism, cronyism and nepotism are a thing of the past. My bad.

Did anyone ever say they were? Nor does any of that have to do with what was said.

I guess that means that Romney feeding the Israelis just what they want to hear is not a tactic to gain votes, but when Obama targets a group it is?
