I've read this speculation in several places over the past week. The pontificators and punditry are starting to wonder about Mitt's true intentions in this year's Presidential campaign.

Does Mitt Romney Want to Be President?

You don't have to be a professional psychiatrist to recognize that Mitt Romney's refusal to fully disclose his finances and remove his money from offshore tax havens represent a classic case of self-sabotage. It's obvious to me that, deep down, the man does not want to be President.

Look at the evidence: As opposed to events out of a single politician's control, like the European debt crisis and the unemployment rate, Mitt's problems are problems of his own making! Mitt could resolve the doubts about his patriotism and finances with the snap of his finger. With one telephone call to his accountants, he could repatriate all of his money to a U.S. bank, disclose his tax returns for the last few years, and answer any lingering questions about his money. Yet he refuses to. It took goading by Newt Gingrich to even get Mitt to give us his 2010 return and a draft of 2011, documents which raise more questions than they answer.

I think I would add one word to the headline: Does Mitt Romney (Really) Want to Be President?

Here's one example of some guy using my headline - Talk Radio News Service

I don't buy it for a minute. The guy is desperate to be president. He isn't turning over more tax returns because he's calculated that they would do him more harm than good.

In my lifetime, I have never sensed that a candidate wanted to be President more than Romney does. (I think it's because of his father.)

I think he's hiding something. He wouldn't take the damage like this for no reason.

What damage? The polls are narrowing in Romney's favor at the moment...

He can't hide a thing from the IRS, and if he had done anything wrong the IRS would have had a penalty for him, which would be of public record...

So Romney smartly handled money, spent as little as he had to, and got the best for his buck... but somehow that's such a bad thing for a president, isn't it?

Its because he believes hes Entitled to be president..

Romney wants to be the next JFK.

Not necessarily. Only about 2% of returns are audited. Even if they did conduct an audit it may have been impossible for them to verify claims about the accounts in the Caymans, Switzerland, and Bermuda.

So you are saying that he has been audited by the IRS? I don't think so.

there's no doubt in my mind that he wants to be president.

Are you kidding. every return of someone making what Romney makes is audited, every year. Rest assured the IRS under Obama will go over romney's return with a fine toothed comb.

Of course he wants to be president, why else would he put up with crap like your post?

Not true.......

Not true.......

you are mistaken. Most returns of somone making multi millions is audited. Especially those in politics or entertainment, and especially those on obama's enemy list. Limbaugh is audited every year, so is Hannity. Do you actualy think that Romney will not be audited?

The decision to audit or not audit is based on a number of factors -- combinations of which might trigger regular audits. Even if Romney's '10 return is audited, it might not happen for another year or two. A few years ago I was mini-auidted over a return that I'd filed three years previous.

Yeah, me too. But if there was something amiss in his returns from 07, 08, or before, don't you think the dems and the media would be ranting about it 24/7?

They would have no way of knowing. That's kind of the point.

How did we all know that Willie Nelson had a tax debt, or that Geithner was a tax cheat? Its kind of naive to think that if Romney had tax issues, that they would not be made public

Isn't having accounts in the Caymans, Switzerland, and Bermuda a requirement for a Republican presidential candidate. They demonstrate how to manage your money correctly. Those of us that don't have our money in accounts in the Caymans, Switzerland, and Bermuda aren't doing things correctly. Also he has made very generous contributions to a charity giving 10% of his claimed income to one; however, I think there is some reward for contributing 10% to that charity. I'm sure I'm missing some good things. The tax returns might add more to his qualifications, but he certainly meets the requirements.

except for the assassination part, that is 100% impossible.

I hope not because Kennedy never was all that great. He made great speeches, and was a good little Democrat; of course not like the big ******s we have today. He had guts.

Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Wasserman-Shultz, the Kennedy clan, Buffet, Gates, Soros, and every hollyloonie has accounts in the Caymans, Switzerland, and Bermuda. This is a bull**** attempt to turn average income americans against romney.

You know that because Rusbo said so? LOL You are the gullible type,

Really? And how many of them have $100 milloin in their IRA's? NONE. The one return Romney released raised more questions than it resolved according to tax experts.
